Shopping cart and sales tracking

Hey guys,
I'm trying to make my mainstream business site more professional. I'm going to run a big ad campaign in a few months and I want to be ready by then.
I'm looking for 2 things:
1. A good shopping cart
2. A tracking software

My website is: Light My Toy - Light up any space or toy
I'm selling portable LED lights.

1. As for the shopping cart, I'm using the Paypal one but it's really not that great to work with. Depending on how many lights people buy, the price and the shipping change and with Paypal shopping cart, I can't seem to set this up.
So right now, I have Paypal buttons if they want to buy up to 3 lights, but for 3+ lights (That's when the prices/shipping change) they have to email me and then I have to create an invoice for them.
It's just not "professional". I need a shopping cart that will automatically change the prices depending on the volume.

I'm thinking about using Wordpress + Woocommerce
Would it be a good solution?

2. About the sales tracking. I finally got Google Analytics/Paypal setup, but I've noticed that it's not tracking everything, and quite frankly, it's really hard to understand personally. Is there anything else I can use? I just need something that shows me where the sales come from.

I would appreciate any suggestions

    Hi Ed,

My company runs some pretty intensive Opencart ecommerce sites and I would suggest looking at Opencart.

Woocommerce is good for wordpress and we use it for some sites.

The analytics issue is always going to be an area that you will need to either become familiar with or outsource.

GA will give you everything you need but there are plenty of solutions that can assist if the investment is worth it. On page stuff like Clicktale, Getclicky, Kissmetrics. etc

You should consider what is out there as the business grows.

Group some of the solutions based on "Need to have" as opposed to "Nice to have"

If your website is converting don't try to complicate things too much.

You can do a ton of tracking with GA and by setting up Google tag manager and, if you are using adwords to drive traffic, then make sure you have the conversions showing in adwords and assign a value to them.

You can assign the value of your sale with some code on the checkout success pages that passes back to analytics and adwords.

It does vary depending on what you are using but we pass values from the checkout success pages of Opencart, Magento, Woocommerce back to adwords and analytics to measure what is going on.

This is something that can get complex and it is why, although I have tag manager certification, I also have a good coder on staff with whom I discuss what it is we need to measure things and how to go about it.

    You can outsource that stuff.

    Best regards,

    Ozi

I recently worked with Ecwid.com. They're a pretty decent alternative to WooCommerce or Shopify. Plus, they're cheap. I suggest you give them a shot.

If you want more customization, I highly suggest Magento.

Overall, though, Shopify is probably your best bet for a shopping cart - they're very well supported and you won't have any trouble finding freelancers for it.
