Difference between normal Design files & Design files made for Print ?
 

For company logo and design on packages, what's the difference between normal design image files (jpg, png..etc.) and design files made for printing on product packages (logo and other design elements)?

Usually, suppliers request it in pdf format (I believe) to print on packages, (private labeling / OEM), but what are the characteristics or "common practices", so-to-speak, for these files? How do you convert a normal design file to one?
