For Amazon FBA, how often do you re-price a listed item?

    Sometimes daily (almost).

    Sometimes never.

It depends on a very large number of factors including competitor pricing, promotion strategy, cost of amazon sponsored ads, and a whole lot more.

If your items are not selling it is not necessarily due to pricing (although it may be).

The short answer is to experiment. If they are not selling then adjust pricing and see. However in my experience advising ecommerce owners it is more than not down to other factors. For example what traffic are you driving to your listing? Where does it come from and what are their expectations?

    Good luck with your venture

I have a rule of thumb, but it's not set in stone: if it has been there for three months and it's still not moving, I'll drop the price. If I want to sell something quick, I may drop it sooner. I sometimes wait for my competition to sell out, depending on the type of item. Alternately, you could use an automatic repricer.

    There are few different strategies.

If you are new, then I think your objective should be to flip the items ASAP rather than waiting months for them to sell. Try and sell the items without losing money.

When you are new w/ a little bit of capital, you should be looking for items with a ranking under 20k w/ a minimum of $5 profit. This will help you sell quick!

The reason for this is because you can compound the money quickly.

For example: Let's assume you send in an item that you thought you were going to profit $15, but it drops in price due to competition. Now you can only earn $10. Then take the $10! Especially if you have multiples of the same item. If you have five of those items, now you can take the $50 you profited and buy more products.

On the other hand, if you wait 3 months then your money is tied up in inventory. You may not be able to buy any new items. Then your business stalls.

    Hope this helps

If you think that the problem why your product is not selling is mainly because of the price, try to lower them.

If it's taking too long for it to be sold maybe it's time to drop the price.

It's the best option you could take.

There are many factors to consider including the competition (FBA vs merchant fulfilled), the selling rate of the item, how many I have in my inventory and if I can get more, etc.

As a general rule I like to be about the lowest priced FBA seller unless the "race to the bottom" is going on. Also I use camelcamelcamel to looking at selling history. I find this a very useful tool.

As many times as you need until you find a sweet spot...but make sure you have sufficient amount of data. Certain times of the year are better for sellers, like Christmas time but there are also parts of the year when almost everyone sells less...so do not jump to conclusions too soon.

Also compare your listing with your competitors...are your images good enough, your title, bullet points, description...again there are many things to consider here, not just the price. It is important but make sure everything else checks out as well.

  • Hope you have done your calculations properly. If you have and can afford to, lower the price by all means. Especially if you are a new seller. otherwise, there are other factors that might be responsible for you not making sales. Try and make your store more visible.

if you search for your item category, on which page does your product come up, does it come up at all?
Do you have a nice table and product description

...there are so many things that can be responsible.
