      I've tried upworks, everytime I try to checkout what's there it loops me to the employer side instead of the contractor side, it's frustrating.

    Elance has ceased to be, its now part of UpWork - which is my site of choice.

    I do a lot of freelance stuff - it's ruthless, a lot of competition, much of it with people who are happy to earn $3.33ph or build a website for $75.

    But quality floats to the top, there are plenty of people posting jobs who need regular work and if you stick at you will make connections. If you're good you will get repeat jobs - which is where the real money is.

    Top Tip would be always try and get clients away from freelance sites - especially if it's a repeat job. Establish a standalone line of communication - private email, Facetime or Skype - and then propose working directly.

    That way you avoid paying the crippling fee some sites charge.

    I am an Arab and I work on most famous freelance websites like upwork and fiverr and one more website in Arabic called Khamsat. I can make up to $1000 a month, but I am thinking of my own business online.

    I think you need to establish your online reputation and then let your online image work for you.

    Do some efforts in the beginning and everything will be fine later.

    There are many freelancing websites available in current industry, but I personally prefer Freelancer and Upwork for it.

    And yes, nowadays many people have an idea to start their own freelancing website portal. For that you can use ready-made service based marketplace software like ShopyGen.
