I am new to eCommerce and am looking for a mentor, someone who knows what it's like to start out with Zero and has built up at least to a part-time income... I know I should probably join a WSO or membership or something but I am just looking for something informal.. if anyone wants to take me under their wing that would be great and I handle criticism well (as long as it isn't from my missus).

Kindest regards

    Hi Simon,

You should get to now a few people around here before asking for mentorship.

The problem with trying to become a student of successful people is that you have to prove you can reciprocate by means of trading your knowledge and skills to gain others knowledge that has taken in many cases years to acquire.

People who are successful either charge highly for their one-on one coaching or they publish a variety of e-learning courses but ultimately to learn it will cost you.

Be careful about who you choose to learn from.

I don't often talk about the level of my ecommerce experience because I'm not here to make others who haven't had success yet feel bad about getting going.

My traditional offline business has been expanding into online since the beginning.

When my business first went online I got ripped off by a company that rapidly went broke. Consequently I learned html and coded our first site back in the mid nineties.

    We've sold online ever since.

Now over a third of our revenue is online.

Even still with experience picking winners and birthing new startups has its failure rates.

You best be prepared to fail a few times even with mentorship.

Get to know a few people first and ask lots of questions.

Try to start a few things and learn to fail fast because only then will your journey really commence.

    Best regards,

    Ozi
