Hey guys,

I'm launching a new ecommerce fashion website in May and I have a choice between two different domain names. One is a two word, .net and the other is a two word .com but with a dash. (two words exactly the same in both cases)

What name would you suggest to go with? the .net with or the .com with the dash.
#domain #domainname #question

Hi, thanks for the quick response. I'm leaning towards the .net because of repetition is easier without the dash but i know the power of .com is much more recognised. Tricky decision I guess.

hello, if the .net sounds better I would go with that. There are a lot of very successful sites that are net, .io and so on... It is nice to have the .com for sure, but not required.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. Plus it will be easier to switch to the .com later if the name becomes available/I can afford it.

I don't like dashes in my domains and have never had a problem ranking or getting traffic to a .net. I would go with the .net.

  • Hello, a debt of gratitude is in order for the fast reaction. I'm inclining towards the .net in light of reiteration is less demanding without the dash yet i know the force of .com is substantially more perceived. Precarious choice I presume.

  • I would recommend to go with .com as it looks more professional for eCommerce site. It is all depend on your choice and affordability.

I would go for .net. It's sounds more unique and not that too "mainstream."

Yes, that's what I've gone for, check out the site here. I'm happy with the decision though if the .com becomes available I'll jump at the chance to get it.
