Hi,

I just started a new store http://bit.ly/1XZg55j
Would really appreciate it if you can take a look at it and give me your feedback and advice on how to improve the store and generate sales.

I've driven about 500 targeted visitors to the store (Adwords & social media) and have not got any sales yet

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I like your shop design (despite a little bit clumsy graphics on my PC). Maybe the problem is traffic? How exactly did you target?

Thanks for the feedback. please could you elaborate on what you mean by clumsy graphics?
Traffic is mainly from Adwords & social media.

Page performance is a little bit slow.

By targeting, I meant how exactly do you target your visitors? For example, few people in this thread commented that in their opinion there's lack of information etc.

Do you sell your bonsai seeds to people seeking exactly for "bonsai seeds" as an example, or your targeting is different?

Right now, I am using very targeted keywords. Example only targeting people searching for "bonsai seeds".
But yes, like you and others have pointed out, more information is needed. Thanks for the advice.

As a gardener, I can tell you I wouldn't purchase from you due to the lack of information you are providing. I see they are all seeds, but what do the adult plants look like? How big do they grow? What is the light/water requirements for them? Planting instructions for both the seeds and the plants??

With so little info, I wouldn't buy from you.

Good point. The planting instructions are enclosed with the seeds when ordered, but I see your point that a customer would like to know what is involved before making the purchase. Thank you for the feedback . I will add this information.

For one, so called Bonsai seeds are useless. Bonsai is not created from seeds. Bonsai is the art of pruning and shallow root planting of trees and plants and careful shaping with sunlight direction and pruning to achieve the desired size and shape. Anyone who gets a pack of seeds for a bonsai is in for years of work before it looks anything at all like your pictures.

Yes you are right. The seeds don't make a bonsai tree, pruning does. For our bonsai collection we include instruction on how to groom a plant into a bonsai tree. Thank you for the feedback , I will look for a way to clarify this.

I was geting about 3% from my last online store through organic search. Focus on getting as much product information as you can maybe even make videos to embed in the description too. Also on your home page tell people who you are and why they should buy from you, get rid of that money back guarantee crap every scam site uses it and replace it with a image telling people you ship worldwide for only $5.Your image carousel is really boring like instead of telling people this is called the blah blah blah its the hotest chili in the world, sell it! Get a designer to do them if you cant yourself you can do it cheap. Tell people this is the hottest chili in the world and once you try these you will love them so much you wont buy any other chili again and if you buy them this month you get 20% off.

I took a look the other day and didn't reply then.

You are selling seeds yet you show pictures of plants.

There needs to be a connection between how the purchaser will get what you display.

The ideal target is an avid gardener who knows how to propagate and grow what you are selling. Other people are unlikely to buy unless as a gift.

As for Australia and New Zealand you would also have to get past the biosecurity risks.

    Australia:
Home Biosecurity Import Conditions System (BICON)

    New Zealand:
Seeds for sowing | MPI - Ministry for Primary Industries. A New Zealand Government Department.

You may want to explain how the seeds you are selling meet various countries import regulations as that would immediately help with buyers from countries that have restrictions.

Nowhere on your site could I find the country of origin where the seeds are shipped from. This would also help with trust issues if it was clearly displayed.

    Best regards,

    Ozi

      Hi Ozi,

Thank you for the great advice.

You made a number of interesting and important points.

Pictures of seeds look rather uninteresting, but you make a good point that people like to see what they are buying and a picture of the seed pack may improve conversions. Will work on that.

Regarding bio-security, I was just watching the show border security over the weekend and thinking about this. My suppliers say they comply with all the regulations involved but it is probably good idea for me to do some research and post the info on my website.
The origin of many seeds are from different countries, so that is going to make it a bit more complicated.

Anyway Thanks again for the advice.
