WordPress hardly takes a few minutes to install on your server, and gives you access to thousands of free and paid themes. A wide range of plugins and widgets serve to make it more user friendly and interactive.

I know that. But Opencart is mad only for eCommerce.

      Thank you
      You are both right.

Wordpress coupled with Woocommerce has a lot of functionality and plugins with a huge support network.

Wordpress is continuously being updated as is Opencart.

I run several ecommerce operations on both platforms and I will say there can be slightly more problems with Opencart.

Not the support, community or the functionality generally but when it comes to upgrading ir can be a headache if you have made customisations. It can mess with your CSS when you upgrade.

We always tend to upgrade Opencart on a separate test domain each time to make sure all our past hard work doesn't get screwed.

There aren't the same issues with wordpress/woocommerce updates.

We've had great success with Opencart but I would say although I love the results there is more work particularly if you stray away from standard installations.

      Best regards,

      Ozi

  • OpenCart is a free and open-source platform which should be installed and hosted manually and Shopify provides a ready-to-use hosted solution.

I perfer Shopify and WooCommerce. Easy to use and cheap to pay You can feel free to customize your website with their free and cheap paid extensions and modules. And if you wanna go to them from another platform, use WooCommerce migration tool and Shopify migration tool in shopping cart migration for saving time and money.
    Regards,

      Regards,
Before you got any online selling solution there is one impotrant thing to be answered: what will be your scope of business. In case you wish to focus on selling I would not recommend to relay on multi sourced software. The bigger number of suppliers the mote things can go wrong and the less responsibility to be pointed out.

It is not what I wish to say that additional modules does not work but in a bad day it is extreamly difficult to address responsibility.

When it comes to money- business security is the to priority.

Shopify gets my vote. I have been on it for over three years and have been completely satisfied. In fairness, I have not used WooCommerce or Opencast.

I'm starting a wholesale business with opencart soon because shopify charges to much besides the monthly subscription fee, it also charges such as the lable, retail package as well as the transaction fee, that's too much at the beginning. So I am learning opencart and trying to rent a VPS to start my wholesale store at the end of this month.
