Is it advisable to use Dropshipping directories??

So I am thinking about diving into the exciting world of dropshipping, but I've got a couple of questions before I start:
1) Is it advisable to spend money on dropshipping directories (Doba, World Wide brands, Salehoo....) in order to find reliable wholesalers?
2) Is it better to find reliable wholesalers directly on Google?
3) What would you advise for beginners: Start selling on Amazon / Ebay or create an online store with Shopify / Woocommerce?
