Shopify free plus shipping help

Hi all.

I've been watching a bunch of webinars lately about setting up an ecommerce site on Shopify and dropshipping products from Aliexpress. They all recommend giving an item away for free but charge shipping. None of them ever go into details about exactly how to set that up, or want you to spend several hundreds of dollars to buy their entire program/course to get access to their landing page creator and other features.

Being on a budget I cannot afford those courses and am looking for a more affordable option. I need to know two things:

1) How do I charge shipping for each item? (ie: if a customer buys 1 item its $9.95 shipping, if they buy 5 items its 5x the shipping.)

2) How do I create a one page landing page to make my offer and allow the customer to choose quantity and variants, and maybe some upsells along with it and have it tie into my Shopify store/cart?

Any help would be great!

Take a look at Shopify's "Shipping" strategies laid out here: https://help.shopify.com/manual/shipping/understanding

Then, take a look at how you can custom tier shipping rates and adjust shipping rates based on quantity purchased: https://help.shopify.com/manual/ship...thods/examples

Just play around with the system a little bit. Not to worry. You won't break anything.

Theres an app called better shipping which allows you to setup a shipping price per item. You do need the highest plan however which costs $299 per month to use that app, as it incorporates real time shipping tracking.

Just briefly reading about Shopify shipping, it seems as if there is a way to do it without having to pay extra for a plug-in. If you use weight based "manual" shipping, you can assign a weight of one pound to each product. Then, set up different manual shipping rates for each weight (i.e. 1-1.9 pounds = $10; 2-2.9 pounds = $20; 3-3.9 pounds = $30; etc.).

You would Shopify could come up with something like this quite easy, reason they don't? Money.

They know sellers use the free + shipping model and its in their interests to have app developers offer solutions than them actually fixing it themselves.

Do as Dave says if your product line allows it, ie you don't do different products with different shipping options. If you run a purely free + shipping site then its the best and cheapest way.

Dave is right...go in to shipping settings and use weight based rates for the free plus shipping items.

Please note though, that if you do a free plus shipping item someone might buy ten of them.

I've heard stories of people taking advantage of these "offers" and buying up to 25 items at a time (probably very rare but could happen).

And make sure that the items in your store that are not free plus shipping have no weight assigned to them.
