If you own an online business, you might be aware of the importance of the online payment gateway. The payment gateway offered by the payment service provider enables an eCommerce to collect payments online, through a number of payment modes like Credit Cards, Debit Cards, net banking and others. An online merchant can choose any of the payment gateways and repent the decision later. Else, he can spend some time and efforts towards the selection of the best payment gateway and get lots of benefits for his eCommerce.

If you are a looking for a payment gateway that meets all your needs and aspirations and provides for security and best payment success rates, here are some features that your payment gateway should possess.

Security

Integrate a payment gateway which is secure and compliant with international norms. Payment gateway should meet the PCI: DSS norms, and should use SSL encryption for securing credit card information and other financial data. It is even better to get the most secure payment gateway that also has more security related features like Device Fingerprinting, IP Geolocation Tracking, Cross Merchant Intelligence, Powerful Rule Set and others. One payment gateway that has these latest security features is the EBS payment gateway.

Features

Look for a featured payment gateway that has features like Smart Routing, Autopay, and Turbo Checkout among others. These features provide for greater payment success rates and lessen abandoning of transactions.

Support

Look for a payment service that offers 24/7 support. It is even better if your payments service provider also offers you a dedicated RM or relationship manager.

Are you asking a question here? I'm not really sure, however as it's a thread I will share my tool of choice. I use Eway in Australia, it's really simple and the fees are really low. If anyone is Oz is looking for a good gateway I'd recommend it.

A few examples of “modern” payment gateways — those that don’t require a merchant account — are PayPal (all variations), Stripe, and Simplify Commerce.

The biggest perk of these gateways is that you won’t need to change bank accounts or really do anything special to get up and running on the payment side, under most circumstances. Additionally, integrating these gateways with your store is usually a quick process.

    However, there are two downsides:

Modern payment gateways usually charge larger per-transaction fees than classic gateways, and

I think it is better to have multiple payment gateways on your website. It may be a hassle to add multiple payment gateways but it does have its rewards. Each customer has a preference of payment gateway that he or she trusts and considers to be safe. If the customer feels safe that his payment and card or account details are safe it could result in a significant conversions.
