How to painlessly switch from PayPal to Clickbank

Hi all,

I need your thoughts and advice. I'm looking at buying a web site that offers a subscription. The current owner had customers sign-up through PayPal. I, however, don't want to have the payments processed by PayPal. Instead, I want to have everything go through Clickbank.

Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can easily make the switch for all of the existing subscribers? The only solution that I could come up with is to refund the time on their remaining subscription and then ask them to sign-up again through Clickbank. This, however, doesn't seem ideal because I'm sure that I would lose a fair amount of subscribers who just wouldn't bother to re-join. Plus, I wouldn't even begin to know how the process involved at PayPal to cancel and then refund the remaining time on subscription payment.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

You need more than forum opinions on this. You may not be able (legally) to cancel ongoing subscriptions if they were pre-payment for specific time frames.

Any change in payments - even changing to a different paypal acct - will require subscriptions to be renewed and you will lose some customers.

A plan for how to do this effectively (and legally) and how to manage it to keep as many subscribers as possible...should be part of your buying decision. Special deals (i.e., extended subscriptions, etc), freebies, and promises of "more/better" are often used.

Okay, the plot thickens. The PayPal account isn't included with the sale. Any ideas as to how I can handle that situation? Does anyone have experience with purchasing a subscription site that doesn't include the PayPal account?
