Feedback for Client's Ecommerce Store

Hello all,

Looking for feedback for a recently launched client's ecommerce store - > SkyRiver. It's built on the Shopify platform and the angle is clothing and accessories for millenial audience.

We're primarily using social media and email for marketing but any advice on things we're doing wrong or indeed not at all would be welcome.

    Looks pretty good, but I think the images for new arrivals are too small. Maybe larger images with fewer items in that carousel.

      Thanks. Changed the carousel images down to four and agree, looks better. The client's doing about $500 a month in sales but we're at the point where I've exhausted our launch advertising budget so trying to think about new advertising ideas and optimising the store.

    I really like it, from the content-perspective it is definetly one of the best Shopify projects I saw in the last time (many fitting categories, good overview etc.). The design looks cool as well. Maybe you should think of integrating "Login with Amazon" or even "Amazon Payments". I made really good experiences with it, especially for gaining customer trust.

      Hi, thanks for the comments. I've gone ahead and done what you suggested by integrating 'Login with Amazon'. Hope it helps conversions.

    I think a professional looking logo wold serve this site well. It also helps to add trust seals like "secure shopping","satisfaction guaranteed" and "low price guarantee".

    One other suggestion that you should consider - increase the body text font size from 12px to at least 14px.

    Finally, all of the pages need significantly more text on them if there is any hope of them ranking well organically.

    Thanks Dave for the suggestions. Specifically on increased text, what would be your suggestions? We have category text for most categories, do you mean the static pages i.e about us? or product pages?

    I agree, trust seals are great. We will add them but obviously don't want to make the design worse off.

      Usually, you want things to be consistent on a site from page to page. It all depends on the programmer who wrote the code, but usually the CSS that defines body text will affect the text size for the most of the site. It's usually one of the first sections of CSS code. I believe in the case of this site, the code currently is:

      html, body {
      font-size: 13px;
      color: #222222;
      }

      It looks like the coder for this site defined pretty much everything with that code so it will change the size almost everywhere, including the text on pretty much every page and even the top navigation bar (which also needed to have larger text IMHO). I played around and changed it to 14px and 15px. Personally, I liked 15px the best.

      As far as trust seals go, I get it. It is often hard to put them in the header or sidebars without messing up the look of a site. We often change the product page templates, inserting seals near the Add to Cart button or under the main image window. Here's an example:

        Thanks. Yeah, I guess we will look at different areas to place the trust seals. Do you recommend a specific provider? We're thinking McAfee but beyond this, any others?

    Those are just seals. Are you talking about an SSL provider? Get whatever the least expensive one is that you can find. Almost all of our sites are on hosted platforms, like3DCart, and we usually just use the shared ones provided by the shopping cart. Where we aren't using a shared platform, we purchase them through NameCheap and just buy the cheapest $9 PositiveSSL one.

      Yeah Dave, I meant which seals? McAfee is something I've used before but not sure which is most trusted?

        If you're not sure what would be trusted more, you can count on that being the case for the average internet surfer, too. In other words, any seal is bound to have a positive effect.

          Yeah agree Dave, it's amazing how that whole 'trust' industry works when no-one really knows anything!

          I've added 'Trustpilot' as a way of managing 'service' reviews and added a 'TrustBox' in the footer so hopefully that helps.

    First of all, this looks stunning and professional. Definitely a website I would click through if I landed on it.

    Now some points:
    - would wait with pop up after some engagement or around 15secs or so on the website
    - shrink height of footer
    - here: https://www.skyriverclothing.com/col...by-girls-shoes you don't have anything under the categories on the left. Either put sth there or remove categories
    - product description not formatted correctly when I select list view
    - twitter and Instagram look pretty but would 'open link in new window' for the social media accounts

      Thanks for the gracious feedback on the design, I worry it's too nice to convert i.e I keep thinking about more cluttered, less designed ecommerce i.e Amazon, Zappos etc.

      We setup the categories for all the products we plan to stock but sometimes don't have stock so the sidebar can be empty. I've gone ahead and switched it to the top before but I worry about usability/conversions.

      I've also made changes to the footer and external links, great feedback there.
