Strategy for Cause Marketing Concept

i have an e-commerce platform that sells socially responsible hats and I'm having trouble converting sales. Ive been getting traffic through my website via reddit and facebook. However, none of this traffic is converting into sales and I'm trying to figure out how exactly to approach this problem

Background: There are four hats and each is related to a different social cause. The charitable, social aspect is something I care about, but also what I believe to be a selling point, with the sale of each hat having a specific impact via the charity. (you can see the hats here: Fulcrum #1 - Syrian Refugees – Max Fulcrum New York). The hats are selling at $35 per hat.

My main method of approach is content marketing, meaning rewriting some already established viral articles and sharing them with my following on facebook and specific forums on reddit. But like i said, this is not converting sales.

Any actionable steps or advice for cause marketing? Any channel that specifically works best for cause marketing? Are my hats too expensive? Do I need to be using other types of social media channels like instagram/pinterest/twitter?

Any advice welcomed.

Thanks

Its quite a nice idea, good to see someone standing out of the crowd a little.

However, you have to work heavily on your landing page. In my opinion it looks way too crowded, the left bar is too big and makes the rest of the screen too small. Therefore, anything feels very "tight" and a little confusing. Especially the four big artworks showing the effect of each cap (which is a nice idea), but looks too crowded on this small page.

Also, the newsletter box / contact box looks bad because of the extremely aggressive red. I know about signal colors to raise attention, but this one is more likely scaring people away I think. Having two boxes right under each other with similar Call To Actions may also be confusing.

All in all: a cool concept, I can immediately see that there was put in some effort into this, not AliExpress copypaste with random ads, but it needs some more tuning. Maybe add a "trust-gainer" like Login With Amazon or Amazon Payments as well. Good luck!

thanks a lot for the help. Would you agree with dave_hermansen below in that ecommerce is not a very strategic sales channel for ecommerce?

Keep in mind that for most eCommerce sites, social networking does very little to drive sales. People do not go to social networks looking to buy things; they go there to socialize. People go to search engines when they are looking to buy.

So search is the main method in which to convert sales with an ecommerce store? Is that a heavily known fact or just from personal experience? Fairly new to this so just trying to figure things out. Thanks a lot of for the info.

I can agree. On Social Media, people want to be entertained and socialize, they are generally not in "buying mode". So you basically have to present them a really good ad + landing page + overall experience to make them buy instantly. However, Social Media is great to raise brand awareness, get social proof for your brand etc.

On search engines, people are actively searching for an item ("new cheap tablet", "where can I buy headphones", "buy socks" and so on). They are open to purchase something, therefore your chances are much higher to sell.
