How to Find Development Help For my WooCommerce Site

It's time. My business is growing and I'm wearing too many hats.

Something went awry Saturday and orders weren't getting through. I spent most of the day figuring it out and fixing it. That's nuts! Developing new products and marketing, marketing, marketing, and publicity are much betters uses of my time.

I'm looking for someone to clean up my site and optimize it for SEO, pretty it up with a few things on my list, get conversion pixels jiving correctly with GA and FB and P, optimize page load times... all stuff I can do and learn to do but at a point where I'm better off paying someone to do.

Options include going with a WooExpert or finding someone on Upwork or the like. Since whoever it is will have access to my cuckoo world, I don't want to hand this to just anyone. I am looking for a long term relationship.

Any suggestions which route I should take?

  • I am not that good at judging people with their skills unless I know them personally. One suggestion is to try first getting a recommendation from people you know that might have a contact who knows how to work with WooCommerce sites. Better have someone working on your site with tested skills.

  • That's a good point noted by introspective out but not everyone knows someone who does WooCommerce. You can also take into consideration some freelance sites like Upwork, Freelancer, or Guru. They have freelancers there, you just have to create an account as a client then post a job they will come to you and you can decide based on their profile from there.

Congrats on your business growing! If you want to find certified or reliable developers I suggest you take a look on Toptal. They screen their freelancers very well making sure that they provide great talents to their clients.

  • Another suggestion is to Woocommerce.com. I believe they have WooExperts there that you can sort by location, costing, and skill. I am not sure, though, but I think you can be secured with this site if the experts they have are focused on WooCommerce development but it may be a bit costy compared to setting a budget on your own.

Yes, you can definitely try freelancing sites like Upwork. The only thing there is you really need to be specific on what you want to achieve on your site and also check the prospect developers previous experience and get their portfolio to be sure that they already have created a similar site to what you have.

  • Those are great insights and I may also consider looking into hiring freelancers in the future if I need one but I still suggest to deep dive first on your trusted contacts before hiring some random person from the web.

Thanks for your insight everyone. I think I found what I'm looking for. And as several of you pointed out, through someone I know. Totally inadvertently.
    Thank you!
