Hi guys,

Before post this, I search the forum, find out a few post about Amazon vs eBay, but they are all older.
Almost there are not eBay review sites, Why? Which is best?
I'd like to hear your opinions.

Any reply will be appreciated!

eBay and Amazon are both highly successful ecommerce platforms, but which online seller is right for you? Differences in operation, shopping experiences, and payments can leave sellers confused about which one they'd prefer to use.

Ebay all the way for me. From what I've seen customers turn to ebay first and find it easier and more straigh forward to use.

I think Amazon is better, mostly because people knew they are purchasing new products, but with ebay the mindset might be used things.

Amazon has better seller protection, on eBay you have less chance because of PayPal. Plus, on Amazon there are many listings that can be outperformed by using great pictures, descriptions etc. I also like the professionalism of the Amazon platform, even though it has a monthly fee.

Marco, This is misleading and incorrect. I'm not certain the country for which you claim to be an eCommerce expert but, here in the United States, both eBay and Amazon have effective consumer and seller protection. If eBay did not protect (their) customers, sales on eBay would suffer. If eBay did not protect their sellers, then they would not have store operators with the variety and low priced merchandise that draws traffic (and permits competition with the Amazon, Rakuten, Sears, etc. platforms).

On all platforms, sales will benefit from the provision of quality listings (with high quality pictures and descriptions). Both eBay and Amazon have a monthly fee for their stores. From my perspective as a buyer and seller on both platforms, and a power seller with stores on eBay for a decade, both eBay and Amazon know how to provide effective platforms for (both) merchants and their customers.

As an eBay and Amazon seller myself (with a focus on custom online stores though) I made WAY better experiences with Amazon. Sorry, I didn't mean that eBay is bad in general. But I, as well as many partners of mine, experienced some major issues with eBay regarding seller protection, at least when it comes to PayPal.

Even though I sell mainly within Europe (maybe this is really different in the US actually), many people from the US justified my opinion about that. Because per se you are absolutely right - without protecting the sellers as well, none of both would be able to succeed in the long run.

Spen, most of the reviews I've seen that compare the various selling platforms seem biased, and this is not helpful for people starting in eCommerce. I started with both eBay and Amazon in 1999, then tested other sales platforms when it seemed they had sufficient traffic to make adding a store worthwhile.

I don't consider one platform better than the others, as they are all different. The key to Amazon is learning how to get the buy box. The key to eBay is creation of a listing for the best match algorithm. All sales begin with a search, searches are keyword driven, and keyphrase selection often varies based on platform.

As a merchant, eventually you will want to have product listings on every sales venue that operates its own search engine. There are buyers that prefer one site over another, so it is best if you are listed on all sites that show sales volume for the product line(s) your company offers.

Ebay is one of the best places to sell products because the cost is cheap. Also, you can reach a lot of customers without spending money on traffic.

The biggest difference between Ebay and Amazon is....

    - Anybody can sell anything on ebay (Old/new), Ebay does not ensure quality of the product. And seller can choose his own shipping method. It means, you experience can be different for different sellers.
    - With Amazon, products are quality checked and they provide delivery service and ensure timely delivery etc.

    Thanks,
    Saurabh
