Hi warriors, I have multiple questions for you. I am starting an apparel company and the production will be in Romania (for those who don't know, Romania is EU country). I have a great interest in the product, so it will be around 200 packages/month. Max dimensions would be 30x30x30 cm and max 1kg. Sales will go through Shopify and couple of other channels.

What do you recommend in terms of fulfilment and which carrier to use (good price/quality ratio)? Shipments will be worldwide to all countries. Thank you in advance.

Are you asking if "Fulfilled by Amazon" FBA is an option?

When you say you have "great" interest in the product. . . Have you sold any yet?

BTW 30 x 30 x 30 cubes at 6.75kg so it is not 1kg in a shipping sense. You might want to check your volumetric weight.

    Best regards,

    Ozi

    • Hi Ozi,

I'm saying that I am also interested in Amazon FBA if someone can give me some personal experience.

Over 500 units are sold in pre-sale and there's an interest for more.

      Regards,
      Milos

I set up my FBA business a few years ago and I can honestly say the it was the best step I have taken as far as online business goes. Selling on Amazon makes so much sense when you think about the fact that a very significant amount of online buyers go directly to Amazon to look for the products they want.

If you can source the right product at the right price the rest is easy.

Oziboomer has raised a very important point. Clothing can be very expensive to ship because it is so light in weight compared to the size of the package.

The "Volumetric weight" that he refers to is a figure arrived at by using a complex formula that converts measurements to an amount that is described as weight for the purpose of working out freight charges.

You should get quotes from various freight companies.

Shipments to other EU countries will be relatively inexpensive, but once you start sending parcels by courier or postal services the cost will skyrocket.

    • Hi Walter,

thank you for your reply. Yes, it's complex since our product is ultra light but the volume is the negative side of this. I started sending inquiries to many companies and I hope there will be something at normal price.

You might also want to explore having different fulfillment warehouses in different countries, which most certainly would cut down on your shipping costs. Shipping "worldwide" is NEVER a good idea. There is major fraud in certain countries and also very little business from many of them. I'd think about having a fulfillment service in The U.S. that can service the U.S. and Canada and one in Europe to start. After that, you can think about setting one up in Australia.

    • Hi Dave,

that's a smart answer. I will really think about it. I wrote worldwide because in the preorder period, our product is really sold to countries in North and South America, Asia, Europe, Australia...only not in Africa.

Interesting. My guess would have been that there is very little business in South America and that people in Asia would have far more cheap options to be worth your while. I'd also have guessed that fraud would be more rampant in both places.
