Whats best for seo?

I am setting up a store with shopify and I also want a blog attached.

Ive heard that Shopify blog platform is not as good as Wordpress.

Whats the best way to this:

1. Add wordpress in a sub domain and use this
2. Add Wordpress to a sub directory and use this
3. Purchase another domain name and use this as the blog and link to the store from this domain and link back to blog from shopify store
4. Or just use the shopify blog platform.

    I've had success adding a blog subdomain to an existing site that already has traffic. I did this earlier this year to one of my sites and it started getting traffic almost immediately. I used a subdomain as my WordPress hosting is with a different host to my custom built sites.

    I could not disagree more. Use Shopify's blogging platform. It may not be as pretty as WordPress but the only one who cares about that is the site owner. Some of the most popular websites out there are butt-ugly (CraigsList, for one).

    Your blog is for getting links and casting a wide net that serves the broad interests of people who MIGHT someday also be interested in products that you sell. It should not be about your products.

    A blog that is in a folder on your website will help the website rank better and will benefit from the authority of the domain. That is where the Shopify blog is!

    A subdomain is treated as a completely different, separate website. No authority will pass from one to the other. Links you get to great blog articles will not help your main domain rank better or vice-versa. If you build a blog on a subdomain, you might as well put it on its own, separate domain.

    Anyone who tells you anything different has no clue what they are talking about. They'll point to a Matt Cutts video that has nothing at all to do with the real issue, which is what is better for the SEO of the blog and/or the main domain.
