What do you plan on selling? What's your current business plan for this site?

Let me quote you on a response in this thread with a similar query as yours:

    - Shopify.com ( Simple to use for beginners, Not the best option though IMO )
    - Wishflip.com ( Most rich in features, Great training & Best of all their Dreamwish plan guarantees sales )
    - Magento ( Great for SEO, Very heavy on server resources, costly server requirements & heavily bloated )
    - Bigcommerce ( Nice all rounder platform with a good track record )
    - Prestashop ( Nice all Rounder )
    - Wix ( Dont even go there, do yourself a favor )

The winner for me was first shopify, as a beginner it really helped me grow to where i am today, Nowdays i prefer wishflip, mainly for its marketing resources that help me makes sales. Whats most important for me is the marketing of my eCommerce site. Many people start eCommerce only to find they cant make sales, close shop & call it a day then say ecommerce doesnt work. Your question asks about the best ecommerce platform, however there are many aspects about ecommerce, from speed, to seo and marketing. In my honest opinion the best ecommerce platform is the one that makes the most sales and has the best features for customers.

Could you tell us what your requirements are? The Professional Warriors here will help you better make a decision. Example you might want an incentive based ecommerce store that awards points to users who buy, this encourages customer loyalty. You might be interested in dropshipping or even multi vendor ecommerce sites like ebay or etsy. All this is vital information when choosing a reliable ecommerce platform.

Best of luck with your new venture

The best site to begin with is actually amazon (you don't 'own' the site, of course, but it's excellent to cut your teeth on and I built a six figure monthly business on this alone to begin).

Following that, Shopify is the most popular and easiest to use for your own site.

    Good luck with your ventures.

In my view Prestashop and Magento are the best ecommerce website development platform. They provide almost all the features and functionality which is required for a good eCommerce websites.
In admin panel they provide proper navigation and options to add products and their description. Integrated payment gateways reduces the extra efforts of developers. If you want any customized functionality then you can add custom components.

    Just go for it!

There really is no best platform, just a platform that will best suit your needs. Someone mentioned Amazon, the good thing about Amazon and eBay is that you don't have to worry about traffic, traffic is already there, just need to optimise your product listing so they appear near the top of search results.

If you are looking for an expert opinion on the best shopping platform, then I hope this article helps.

Since nobody cares what I have to say I did an interview with as many successful small business owners and had them list their 5 favorite e-commerce platforms. So.. Here are

    The Top 5 E-Commerce Platforms in 2016-17:

    1. Shopify
Besides easy setup, quick loading speed and safe payment gateways are two other major reasons why Shopify is a good choice for launching an online store in 2016. Shopify also provides you with hundreds of templates to customize your store's landing page and give it the custom look you desire.

    2. WooCommerce
WooCommerce has an extremely intuitive admin panel that any layman can understand and manage. Other advantages that can be attributed to WooCommerce include - no limitation to product categories, a WordPress blog (of course), and availability of thousands of plugins & extensions that one can easily find on the internet. And if you have a website on WordPress, then 'Way to Go!'; WooCommerce naturally becomes your first choice.

    3. Yo!Kart
One of the important things to know about Yo!Kart is that it was built primarily for early stage startups. It allows you to launch your online store under a hosted plan (typically a low cost and ready to launch option) and gives you the freedom to migrate to a self-hosted plan (fully customizable as well) after one year, once you have your online store well-established. So unlike Shopify you can migrate from a hosted to self-hosted plan, and like WooCommerce, the shopping cart experience is fully customizable.

    4. BigCommerce
BigCommerce is pretty much like Shopify, except that it has more built-in features. For starters, with BigCommerce you get a fully functional website, unlimited bandwidth & storage, as well as freedom to add as many products as you want. Plus, essential ecommerce features like gift cards, reviews & ratings, as well as basic marketing tools are also built-in in BigCommerce software.

    5. Magento
Recently spun out by eBay, Magento is now an independent company and continues to be a top-tier (enterprise-level) player that has stood the test of time when it comes to ecommerce. Primarily, Magento is a better fit for large-scale retailers and building high-end ecommerce websites. The platform has a very high level of security, is fully customizable and scalable, as well as offers many features that other ecommerce platforms miss, such as multiple storefront, multi-language, and multi-currency support.

It's clear that there is no single "one-size-fits-all" ecommerce platform solution. Each one is built to entertain only certain pre-assumed business needs and goals. That means that none of these ecommerce platforms are best for every sized business need. But, if you are realistic with your specific online storefront needs, there is clearly one of these five that can be the best fit for you. Choosing the right ecommerce platform comes down to outlining your vision for the kind of online store you need today while envisioning how those needs may change in the next couple of years as you grow. So your next step is to start defining your business more cause that is where your real problems lies, not in picking the best e-commerce site.

Great question, as EasySimmons says it depends on your needs and requirements. I've used Shopify, Amazon, Spree, WooCommerce, Wix and by far the easiest was Shopify. Not the BEST, mind you. I was able to build a 7 figure business with Shopify, but not without some scaling challenges. But the easiest. What's your technical skill level and how much time can you devote?

It is hard to say that which is the best ecommerce platform for e-commerce website because it depends on each kinds of product and sales process. However, I think Shopify is suitable for small business or who want to start ecommerce with lack of experience because this platform is easy to use and it has flexible pricing options. On the other hand, I prefer Magento because this platform can match with any size of business and have a huge community of users and developers. If you want to start with Magento, you can learn and get support easily.

    1. Shopify

    Pros

Simplicity: the first thing we hear about Shopify is we can easily create a beautiful, responsive website without much effort. With just few step, your site is designed in the most trending styles.
Speed and security: in order to secure customer information, data must be transferred through many layers that will decrease page loading time, But the more page is loaded, the more possibility customer will leave and go to competitor's website. But with Shopify, you'll get both without sacrificing any of them.
Customer support: one word: excellent. According to my own experience and others', Shopify provides the most useful and fastest service than other platforms. Simple installation + good support = Create website quickly
    Cons

You can only customize elements the system gives you access and at this point, Shopify can't compare to Magento
The price of this service is quite high compared to others. Woocommerce is free and Community Edition of Magento either. The price of Shopify includes monthly price, platform transaction fee, credit card fee and add-on fee. Furthermore, if you use basic package, they will claim 2% of total revenue and you only can upload 25 products.

Shopify is really good choice to start, with sales grow you might need a bit more complex solution, with advanced WMS, marketing automation, data collectors support etc. Personally I would not suggest it as first choice for those who have to ship several hundreds parcels daily... A bit more orders processing automation is required- you teem work efficient way without a need of new team members...

Shopify is the winner in availability, in ease and friendliness of use, and in tools/apps the platform offers to run an online store in "one place". The expenses behind Shopify store cost are probably the lowest of all that the market offers. Thus, it is affordable even to the smallest of business endeavors with few items to sell. Trusted and used by known brands too: Tesla Motors, Budweiser, New York Stock Exchange
Also, I think, good for you would be to read about ERP. https://easyerp.com/blog/erp-benefits-for-business/
