Hi there Warriors,

First of All, this thread is based on my personal experience in Dropshipping business model, I wanna to share some thoughts with you so maybe I can save you a lot of your money that you spending right now on Instagram influencers.

I start dropshipping last year, like an everyone here first thing I did I choose a niche and then I set up my Shopify store and after that, I start to look for good products on Aliexpress.

My store was ready, the products, the payments gateway, the SSL certification, The load time was 1.2s, a great template, a lot of security seals ... well, it was everything in the right place, but I needed traffic. Here I start doing Facebook Ads, I spent 200$ with no single sale, I tried pretty much everything, I changed colors, changed images, changed the price, changed the product, but nothing works. Here I moved to Instagram.

I start contacting big accounts from 300k to 3m followers, everyone has different price and I start to negotiate the price to featured on of my products for one hour.

first I did buy one hour for 40$ and I made only 2 sales from that and the profits were 14.98$ it means I lost $25.02

I was making sales so next day I bought 2 hours for $80 and I made 5 sales my profits were $37.5 I lost this time $42.5

Next days I changed the product and I bought 1 hour for $90 in a 2m account and I made another 5 sales. here I lost $52.5

The total budget of advertising == $210
The total sales == $179.87
Net revenues == $89.98
The Total losses were == $120.02

I used to see people bragging in Facebook groups but now I understand the ugly reality behind those income proofs, they never say how much the Net revenues and they will never tell you how much they spend on ads.

I am not saying Instagram influencers Marketing is the wrong way in Dropshipping but it's not that powerful either because a lot of the accounts out there built using bots so you need to be careful when you buy from someone on Instagram.

But if you ask me which better Facebook or Instagram I will answer everty single time Instagram.

Your premise is flawed from the start. When you only make $7.49 profit from an order you cannot afford to advertise. Period!

Find something that nets you AT LEAST $35 profit if you want to try any type of advertising. Otherwise, you'll keep losing money down the paid marketing drain.

There's nothing wrong with making $7.49 profit from an order. There are products with much smaller profits than that.

No problem, except it is nearly impossible to pay for advertising and still make a profit.

What? 80% of my sales come from products I sell lower than 11$ using Facebook ads.

          Things have changed my friend.

So, you're actually paying a IG influencer to have your product featured.. for one hour? Don't mean to laugh, but that's crazy!
Influencers need cash, exposure etc as much as you do.. how about offering them one of your products in exchange for the exposure?

Remember, YOU set the terms, I'd suggest you barter the product you're interested in promoting for exposure.. ie.. they snap a pic wearing or using your product, post that pic on their profile, PLUS allow you to post the same pic on your IG page.. assuming you already have one.

Also, search for influencers with under 100k followers, as these are just getting into the market, have no idea about marketing and are simply desperate to become top influencers, they'll do your bidding for you..

    1 hour.. WOW!

    Good luck!

    Hi Oussamma,

The problem you're having is one that many who are new to ecommerce also have, which is the belief that spending money on Facebook or Instagram is going to result in automatic sales.

Here's the truth: It doesn't, but it can.

What do I mean by that? Well more important than your marketing or your social media profile is your website. How are people getting to your product? Do you explain your service/good in a way that entices people to buy? Do you set expectations up front? Are you using high quality, relevant images and dynamic engaging copy? Is your checkout funnel a smooth, simple process with no bumps or surprises near the end? Do people know EXACTLY what they are getting, when they are getting it, how much it costs, tax information, and whether they have a safe secure checkout?

If you don't have these fundamentals in place before beginning a marketing campaign then no amount of Instagram clicks is going to do you any good at all.

Social media should be a complement to your website. Work on your SEO, posting regular content and attracting users organically before throwing money into the furnace of influencer marketing. Big social media pushes CAN work extremely well, but you need to have the budget to make them sustainable for a lot longer than a single hour.

    Best,
    Chad

Strange, because I made more than $300,000 in sales through influencer and affiliate marketing, with a profit of at least 30-40%.

Another thing is your approach: you said that you setup a store, choose a niche and THEN choose some products? This sounds like "yeah, now I have a store, time to fill it up with some random stuff I found on Ali". Thats usually how you fail (and changing images and banners is only the tip of the iceberg if you don't have solid products and a good marketing strategy).

Plus, reaching out to huge influencers (300k - 3M is huge) when you are not experienced is usually the worst way to go. Smaller influencers have higher engagement and lower prices, an awesome mix to test the waters and build up. Approaching a big influencer and posting a random image is nothing more than a lucky shot. Influencer marketing is a profession that needs to be practiced, there is no magic about it.

After all, I like that you mention the bot thing, because that is true indeed. This is why you should always check the accounts you wanna work with in-depth, check their whole posting history and also the comments and "discussions" below their pics. Only that way you can somewhat predict the success of a partnership.

Maybe the video I recently uploaded on my channel about this exact topic may help you though to improve here. Anyways, no matter which traffic sources you choose in the end, good luck!

    hey, oussama
I think influencer marketing is very useful if you have the right tools. personally I think you are paying far too much for promotion. I would recommend using www.instaad.org, its a social marketplace that specialises in Instagram influencers, some of which start at $5.
    hope this helps
