Hey everyone! My name is Alex, I am new to the internet marketing game. Ive been researching for a while now and I would like to take action. Would love to find a mentor. I have seen people have success marketing iPhone and android products but that seems like a pretty broad market. Do you just set your Facebook ad for iPhone or android users? But again that seems pretty broad. how would you niche that down?

Ive also seen those fidget cube videos on Facebook. I think that could be a decent product to market but who do you target? I am not looking to be spoon fed but would like a little direction.

Any help would be much appreciated. I would love to find a mentor that would help me out a bit!

Thanks for any and all help!

Alex

    Hi Alex,

You will be better off working out why the videos for the fidget cube attracted your attention and caused you to engage with the idea.

Kickstarter is a great resource for studying product demonstration videos and the marketing that goes into a good video.

You would be best off finding something you are interested in and then leveraging the type of marketing that gets your attention to get other people's attention for your offer or unique product.

    What are you passionate about?

What do you have knowledge about that could help other people?

Most people who have success in anything have a passion and understanding that comes across in their business.

When you say the fidget cube might be a good product to market you might be influenced by the videos you've seen and think there is a demand for the product. Do you think you can out- market the promotions that are out there?

    The other thing is ROI.

You might be better off promoting something with a higher dollar value and a higher margin as you will need less volume to make a profit.

    Best regards,

    Ozi

    Hey there,

sorry but what you described actually sounds pretty much like spoonfeeding, you basically ask for a mentor twice, a point in the right direction and how to target people for a certain product.

The point is, no one will just come around and think "oh, this guy Dean here on WF seems nice, I think I'll just mentor him". Its hard enough to get mentored by people you really know, but you will NEVER just find a mentor that will approach you through a forum where he never saw you before.

This being said, the fidget cube is a quite popular item by now, the growth- and initial popularity phase is over (in my opinion), now it reaches some kind of market shakeout phase. Now we will see which stores and brands that sell this product are really gonna establish themselves and which ones just made some small profits (or none at all). In general, if I had to advertise this product, I'd go with people working in office jobs etc. who might like something like this, maybe also higher positions. Since this product is quite unique you might have to start quite broad and then niche down deeper and deeper once you get more and more data (from Facebook Ads for example).

    Good luck!

Thanks for the reply I just thought it was a neat product. I definitely don't think I could out market what is out there already.

The things I am passionate about are politics, pro wrestling, MMA, and football. I would love to be able to do this in those niches but finding products to market that are worth while seems rough.

I appreciate your response as well. After I posted it and re read it i thought it sounded that way too. I definitely don't want to be spoonfed, I wouldn't learn that way. I totally get what you are saying though. I have just seen so much conflicting info as to how you are supposed to target people. Some people say target between 25k-100k and others 300k-700k and everything in between. Seemed like narrowing an iPhone cord down to that many people would be a beast.

We try to find "forever products" - not something that is a fad today that is replaced by the latest, greatest thing tomorrow. Getting a website to rank well and driving a decent amount of targeted traffic takes a good bit of time and hard work. We don't want to waste our time on "flavor of the week" sites. We try to build ones around products that we know will be just as popular 20 years from now as they are today.

Yeah I guess I need to do more research on those type of products. That method seems better for actually sustaining and actual business. Need to figure out how to niche down those more broad products.
