Partnering With Supplier (Shopify,BigC,)

Hello Everyone!

I'm starting up my own ecommerce store in the near future. I keep seeing everyone like Shopify, so I was highly considering using then.

My question... I talked to my supplier today and they use BigCommerce to connect with clients. If I use Shopify can I use s plugin to connect to BigC?

Or should I use a supplier directory that can connect it for me. It cost 50 more a month though.

Thanks in advance.

Well found out that I'll most likely have to go through a third party to integrate plugins. We'll see.

You need a way to synch data with your suppliers. Usually product catalog is in XML, CSV or IOF file.
In case you with to have this operation automated you need something like IAI Downloader- supplier provides link with an offer and application synch the data in automatic way. This operation might be tricky if you have changed product pictures or product descriptions- you have to be sure that you synch the data only you wish.

The platform you use does not matter at all. Use whichever one is the easiest for you (which in this case, sounds like BigCommerce). Despite their hype, none of them are appreciably better at SEO than the other ones. SEO is mostly in YOUR hands, not the shopping cart.

Thanks for the reply Dave. That is very true and luckily I have a friend who specializes in that area. What about the FB ads. Ive been noticing that plenty of people are investing into their ad campaigns.

My niche is actually going to be one big store that sells numerous amounts of SKU's on Amazon and Shopify. Its going to be a big learning curve for me, but a good experience.

FB ads have nothing to do with your shopping cart. Some carts will create a FB store for you but ads are totally independent of that and are done directly through Facebook. There are also FB ads extensions you can pay separately for with some shopping carts but they are typically quite expensive and not worth it.

I've been doing hours and hours of research on dropshipping and have determined it might not be a good way to make an income.

    My reasons are as follows...
    1. I thought I found a supplier but they charge $70 a month which makes them a retailer and my profits would be very small.
    2. Going the Aliexpress route is products may be cheap, defective, and shipping is a very important issue.
    3. Lots of training classes available on (WSO) that makes me wonder if their just filling there pockets to offer "What use to work"

So I'm contemplating on just regrouping my thoughts and find another way to make a passive income.

Can anyone convince me that dropshipping is still a good option.

Dropshipping works great if you do it the right way. We have more than 50 eCommerce dropship sites that we own - all of which are profitable.

The problem is, most people look for the easy way to do things instead of doing things the right way. You should NEVER pay a monthly fee for the "privilege" of dropshipping. Any supplier who charges that is a scam. You should never join a dropship directory - those are all middlemen scammers, too. We're not big fans of AliExpress, either, because we prefer to sell REAL brand merchandise and have actual customer support from the brands, themselves, if there are problems with products.

The ONLY way to be successful with dropshipping is to contact the actual brand/manufacturer and see if they will give you wholesale pricing and dropship directly to your customers. If they won't, ask them who their major distributors or huge volume buyers are. Real distributors almost always dropship and quite often, because of the volume of business they are doing with the manufacturer, you can get extremely good wholesale pricing from distributors. Not only that, but distributors usually carry multiple brands so one good distributor can dropship a wide range of products and brands for your website. DO NOT rely on the internet to find distributors (there are a whole lot of people lying about that). Ask the actual brand who their distributors are!

Thank You Dave for your honesty and the real way to get a supplier. My journey will continue and we'll see where it takes me. Just for the hell of it I might try a trial and error run on Ali just to see what happens.
