Having your own website certainly offers the benefit of not having to pay 15% or more commission to Amazon or eBay. That is the main advantage.

Of course, Amazon and eBay have much more exposure than most people's individual websites so they get much more traffic, although in many cases, you are competing with plenty of other sites selling the same products there.

It takes a good bit of time until you can get decent search engine rankings with your own website if you are good at SEO. Because of that, the best plan is to do both - advertise on Amazon/eBay AND have your own website. That is, if you can afford to pay 15+% Amazon or Ebay commissions.

You have no recognition when selling on amazon and ebay imo...

I have been shopping on amazon for many times now and I don't remember the specific seller that sold me this item...what I remember is that Amazon sold me this item lols...

so if you want to build a brand that people can remember you for it...a website is good...

If you mean what advantages does a niche store have vs amazon...ummm...I dunno, whenever I shop, amazon usually has the products I want to buy...but usually I shop from Lazada and Shopee because Amazon mostly caters to the US markets...

Yes, it is much easier to market yourself as a high value brand on your own website and it is much EASIER to sell at a higher price on your own website.
