Anyone have any recommendations for an affordable website builder for an e-commerce site. Someone who knows SEO and can build it the right way from the start.

Thanks!

Best to learn to do it yourself but the alternative is to post a project on Freelancers or on Upwork - and have people bid on the job. Many people will set up a clean WP site for you, install the plugins, etc, if saving time is a factor for you. Cost would be quite reasonable but don't necessarily go for the cheapest quote.

Or look through the "warrior for hire" section on this forum for those willing to build a WP site for you (big point - YOU need to know how to manage the site once it's built so Wordpress is probably best choice).

I would suggest not responding to PM's offering to do it for you - or to posts in this thread offering the same (before they are deleted, that is). Look for freelancers who advertise their site building business.

I fully agree with both answers. It depends on you, whether you want to save as much money as you can or you are concentrated on the quality of your future project.
If you are going with the first variant, then you can try to build it by yourself. But it can be not that good (well, because you are not a developer) and you will spend a lot of time figuring out how everything works.
And the second one will cost you money because you would need to hire a specialist. But this one will definitely be faster and better in quality. Just be careful with bad developers (just as Kay King told you).
I'd suggest hiring a freelancer because the quality of the work and my personal time are more important to me.

WordPress is still a small business favorite, and for good reason. WordPress is one of the easiest building platforms for beginners, and it offers some of the Web's most well-designed free templates. WordPress also comes with a wide selection of free analytics and SEO tools that make it fairly simple to keep track of how your site is performing. Bearing all that in mind, it's little wonder around one in five sites on the Internet are now constructed using WordPress.
    Thanks

My first startup had very good marketing strategy but was killed by competitors. On my second tryout I chose a different platform and now I'm the one who kills.
