If you are using wordpress I guess you are already having a theme running, now you mention about using Buddypress and which theme would be best does that means you'd be ready to change theme for your store as well?

Have you tried Buddypress with your actual theme? Chances are it can work pretty well already. You can test this without breaking any thing on your site. I'd recommend that you use BBPress as well, a forum software plugin, both integrate very well.

On the theme side for Buddypress one of the most gorgeous and powerful one I know of is called KLEO you will find it on codecanyon, it's built for community, for Buddypress, and creates very nice stores on top of that.

I think it's a great idea to have a community with your shop. I haven't personally been searching for something like this but I have a feeling there isn't much option out there for people looking for that type of community. You could very well be the only person offering that type of service. Way to be creative !
