You could also set up a few social media pages or join some groups to help spread your affiliate links even further. You could automate the posting for your sites but you would need to do the engagement manually.

My only comment is that the notion of "passive income" is practically non-existent. You aren't going to gain traffic or rankings just sitting on your hands.

I completely agree with this. I honestly don't believe you can do this business or just about any other 100% passively. I started a real estate investing company several years ago based on the promises of passive income. I still run that business today and I love it, but I can tell you it isn't nearly as "passive" as the late night gurus have you believe.

This business requires that you are running a variety of campaigns on an ongoing basis. Stop the campaigns and the traffic stops, followed shortly by the money. Sorry, no matter what other gurus say I believe this is a hands on profession.

I feel like I am seeing myself telling your story like this.. lol.. i had the same experience in the past.. now I have a good job too, and am not planning of leaving, however the allure of doing something that I love pulled me into this forum.. just like one said in the comment.. passive income does not necessarily mean doing nothing.. my experience is that, you have to put in the work necessary for passive income to exist, and keep doing it more consistently once money comes to make it coming more and more,.

If you're going to build stores from the ground up yourself, you're going to have to learn how to use the Amazon API first.

I think a better solution would be to sign up with one of the Amazon store builder services like Fresh Store Instant (FSI) or ShopMonopoly. There are others out there as well.

These services generally include hosting as part of their services. I think FSI is the best of of them. They also provide different themes for you to use and stores are as close to on-click setups as you'll get.

At least this way you could have stores up and running while you learn the Amazon API and build your own sites. It will also let you test various niches to see what (if anything) is profitable before you commit more time and resources yourself.

There's a lot of competition in this space and there's always the question of why would someone buy something through your site when they can just go to Amazon directly and cut out the middle-man?

Of course, if you do create your own stores, that gives you a product you can sell to others

We started with Affiliate Marketing some 15 years ago. Today it is the smallest part of our business (We have built a large Agency) but still return yearly commissions of between US$2.5 to 3 Million, so some would say we are Super Affiliates.

Way back in 2013 (October and November) I took part in 2 threads on Affiliate marketing.

One was titled "Amazon Affiliate Income - Is It really Possible To Make over 1000 a Month. That thread attracted 52,634 views. (Just a few more than the average thread view rate now. lol.) It was interesting in that there was mainly 3 of us doing most of the teaching and we each did Affiliate Marketing in different ways. Most of what we taught is still valid. A few things such as our use of a software called Local lead Freak is not.

The second smaller thread (it only attracted 6,219 views) was titled - Re: How The Hell Do I make Money With Affiliate Marketing.

Now we do Affiliate Marketing in a very different way to most, but what I and the others taught there would still be valuable to you I think.

Unfortunately the "Amazon Affiliate Income" thread was shut down after 3 members started to pick on me, and then started messaging rape threats against me, my Daughter and our female staff. Likely just idiots but WF took it seriously at the time.

I agree with gnugent re using the Fresh Stores Amazon store builder. It is a brilliant program that we have used since it was developed.

Focus on one niche and one site otherwise you will get overwhelmed .If you were to go and build multiple sites you would have to create content for each site.Not logical at this time when you are trying to establish yourself.One site is going to consume a lot of time and energy.Amazon started out as a book store and then got into other niches gradually

With the way how you put it it's really like asking for some disaster anyway. Nobody is going to maintain such high number of sites if each of them really do earn you only $10 a month or something like that really. Aim higher and lower amount of sites.

Did a lot of research this week. I'm switching to a niche site monetized through amazon affiliate that hopefully will evolve into an authority as the content grows.

I wouldn't really call it "switching" I would call it the process of due diligence and understanding a store of product with no content behind it would be a waste of time. I personally use a woocommerce plugin that allows me to import Amazon products.

Here is where it can get a bit challenging.. there are reasons people use Amazon... Amazon prime IE1 or 2 days shipping and free shipping on order over $35. On my Amazon the plugin I use allows the customer to shop on my site, and from the cart get transferred to Amazon Pay so it looks internally integrated. Its a truly nice feature to have vs having links that each and every one pops over to amazon.

It has the look and feel of a actual store vs a dime a dozen affiliate site. I can select only products that are amazon prime, so I can use the concepts of USP " free shipping on orders over $35.00" "We use Amazon Pay" "Get your order as soon as tomorrow" these things build byer trust and help push the sale - simply because you are offering things that other affiliate marketers are not.

The plugin is call WP All Import - and the best part is it will auto fill and remove new / sold out products.

The path you are choosing is the right choice. develop content around the niche and sell items... a plugin like this allows you to do exactly that, but in what I feel is a more professional manor than anything else on the market. Yeah its $139, but I have used it for 4 years now, and have never had to pay for upgrades or updates... and in terms of my affiliate business its priceless.

To Start an Amazon affiliate marketing is quietly a great choice to become a Successful online marketer, but to sell directly over amazon is quite different, It will help to grow fast eCommerce would be a better option and you can also try this at the same time, There are so many tools to check the every update of your eCommerce site, you can use a good analytic software like ProfitPeek or some other analytic tools which you will find affordable.

Supporting all those stores on your own would be a pain though. I'd use aShop, never seen any Amazon Affiliate store builders that are so easy to use and pricewize it's seems very reasonable (probably, because they are quite new in the space).

There are millions of e books available online for the same that you can get for reference. Be it better incentives, higher commission rates or anything else you can offer. I believe large affiliates are like partners Never take them for fools or try and blind them marketing.

I recommend building your sites on a wordpress platform using Amazon Simple Admin 2 (paid version) or Woocommerc + Amazon Affiliate for Woocomerce (Wzone). After testing many wordpress plugins I find those two are the best

If the products you're recommending are too low priced, you'll need a significantly larger volume to make $1000+ per month.

Even with an 8% commission of a $10 sale, you'd need 1250 sales per month. Not an easy number to hit.

One thing to note though is that conversions tend to drop over the $200 price mark, I believe that's down to people taking longer to make a purchase decision.

Most Amazon affiliates stick to products in the "home" or "home furnishings" category so they get an 8% commission.

This is important, even if a product is $100, if you're only getting paid 1% per sale, that's only a dollar. You'd need 1000 sales a month to hit $1000/month, which is unlikely to happen soon.

Hi,

I am in the same boat as you. I used to 1-2 websites around 10 years which used to make close to $1k a month from Adsense. But later I moved into a different country and got deflected from all online marketing. And all those sites are dead now.
Now I am a tech professional as well living in the UK and working a full-time job now. Now just planning to start an Amazon affiliate site to have some passive income so that I could have some spare cash in hand as all the money I get from my current job is only going to expenses.

Little update, I decided to stick with. Iche sites and monetize them through amazon affiliate, I'll start with one site and see where it goes. I think it will take forever to reach even 10$/month...
