Selling DropShipping Electronics...how would you do it?

You should know how dropshipping works. Basically, you sign up with a company that sells you products (like iPods and such) for below wholesale prices. You sell these products on a website of your own, or on one provided to you by the the company.

How would you do it? What would you do to drive traffic? What kind of products would you sell, and what ones would you avoid like the plague? What kind of selling techniques (coupons, 1 day sales, etc.) would you use?

Thanks Warriors.

I've never heard of dropshipper selling below wholesale. Electronics is a very low margin product anyway, so I seriously doubt that a person could find legal electronics for such a purpose.

Typically dropshippers charge the seller about 20% (give or take a little) below retail. That retail cost is MSRP.

Research it heavily before signing or paying for anything.

If you really want to get into dropshipping I'd suggest you check out Chris Malta's World Wide Brands (not affiliate). He has an extensive and verified directory of dropshippers you can deal with and other helpful info.

I wouldn't sell electronics in the 1st place. That's one of Andy Jenkins/Brad Fallons first tips is to avoid the urge to sell electronics.

Hey Joshua, I say to you this I dropship electronics and make good, good money doing it.

Basically, I see what you are asking. :p

First thing is to get yourself a reliable USA based distributor/dropshipper. That is really the biggest pitfall that can SNAFU the works. Once you get a good supplier the rest is easy.

Big name gurus are great to check out, but don't go getting into bed with them. Do you understand what I mean? Not to be funny AT ALL. Example, many people go to church, listen to the pastor, priest, fall out on the floor, get the Holy Ghost, scream Hallelujah, say 20 Hail Mary's etc. AND HAVE NEVER even cracked open the Bible. That is foolish. A guru is always selling, and so should you. The WF is all you need.

Now it is true that electronics offer a low profit margin, BUT it depends on what you are selling. Ipods, accessories, etc. will sell, but you can't make good $$ on them. i.e. $20 headset will net you like $3 in profit. But sell a $1,000 laptop that a good dropshipper offers for $780. etc And you can make $220 in profit. Less $50 or so in fees.

The trick is to do the math beforehand. Yep pull up eBay's fee chart or whatever selling platform you use and see if you will have a profit left. Don't get stuck on the margin. WHY?

Because you are not Wal-Mart, you have no shareholders or investors to worry about. Take your $10 or $100 and bank it. Then move the He!! on. Tally it up at the end of the week.

So far as traffic, unless you have burn money and are already schooled, Adwords is not for you yet. At least I didn't when I started. eBay is good for market testing, but you WILL need to jump ship and get your own site. The fees are just too ridiculous. If you aren't proficient in XML or HTML. You will need to get an e-store from Yahoo or the like. Remember proper SEO on all images and ALT tags.

One day sales are good, so are coupons, but that creates busy work. Like eating cherries, I mean they are good, but I'd rather eat oranges, because I need to get full. Therefore I would go with Facebook & Twitter posts (I anticipate you are already doing this) At least 20 per day for 1 month straight then check your analytics (once again I anticipate you have or are doing this).

Maybe create a special page with a countdown timer on it to drive home a sense of urgency. I will post a "best dropshipping practices" article today on WF. I'll send you the link. Best wishes

I actually started as an electronics drop shipper, so I know a thing a two about this business...

If I were to avoid any type of electronics, it would be high priced items that give you little to no margin. Why? Because returns are just one big gargantuan headache.

Go for small things that give you a lot of margin.

As far as advertising goes, PPC all the way!

Start an eBay store, and use it to drive traffic to your online store. As far as suppliers go, search on eBay. There are tons of suppliers that will be more than happy to work with you and you can get get a sense of how reputable they are just by looking at their feedback... Hope this helps!

I've personally know Chris Malta of WorldWideBrands for nearly a decade. Very honest, trustworthy, and has a great product.

They have a membership where you can find just about anything you want and have it dropshipped.

Just be sure to check eBay "street prices" against the wholesale price.

Also, pick odd-ball , non-commodity items so lessen your competition.

Another great source is to look for manufacturers and distributors directly at ThomasNet.com

I've sold over 1500 refurbished dropshipped dehumidifiers on eBay. My source wasn't on anyone's list. I had to explain the concept of dropshipping to him! LOL :-)

The result so I had no competition and made a KILLING.

Refurbished, scratched & dented, even broken items sell VERY well on eBay.

You can try finding local Distributors that get customer returns that are missing a screw, scratched, or has some other minor problem that doesn't affect the functioning of the item. For example, my brother picked up a bunch of scratched electrical panels from a company that couldn't sell them to their professional electricians, but for the do-it-yourselfer home guy they were perfect!

You gotta be VERY careful about back-orders on eBay. That's when you sell the item but then your supplier is out of stock! ACK!! That's a scary thing. Check out the ebook called "12 Killer Dropship SECRETS For eBay Sellers". It's a classic "street smart" ebook on how to avoid the common problems with dropshipping
