Hi there,

I have set up an ecommerce shop and intend to sell organic baby clothes. I would like to start driving traffic to my shop.

Can you give me your recommendation on where the best place is to start? I would like to focus on one traffic source at a time. What would be the most effective us of my efforts at this stage.

PS. Unfortunately I don't have any money to spend on advertising.

You can fill in your website with valuable and unique article.
Be a guest writer in some blog that have same niche with yours, and put your website link at the end of article paragraph.

Active in parenthood forums will also good to build relationships with the parents, educate them the benefits of using organic products for their babies.
You also can make related video that that lead to your website.

    Hope it's help...

    Cheers,
    Amanda

A lot of sites ask for money to post your guest blog as it'll be a commercial site.

Without money, you could try article marketing. Writing high quality articles and posting to ezinearticles hoping that the article gets reposted elsewhere.

If you have time, and not in a rush to make money you could do SEO

Also, I know this is the internet marketing section and all. But a bit of word of mouth never hurt anybody. Spread the news a bit offline.

I've run an eCommerce site for one of my clients for over 6 years.
        E commerce is tough.

If you don't have any money you better start writing.

You can set up free sites all over the place
with articles that link to your site.

You can start as many Facebook pages as you want.
You can send out your RSS feed to feed agragators.
There are still a lot of free classified ads sites out there.
I think you can still buy and ad on ebay classifieds for $10 per month.
        Craigs list.
        Twitter
        Google +
You could advertise in your sig file on the Warrior forum.

I started a blog that just shows all the news in my industry
and is updated with RSS feeds.

Then I have ads for my main site on that blog.
I'm amazed at how much traffic comes from the blog.

Just typing ... how to advertise for free online
into Google I got over 360 million results. So
        start digging.

I will tell you free advertising is not free
it costs you a lot of time.

Figure out how to get even a small amount of money
and start using PPC. Bing/Yahoo is cheaper than Google
per click start there and build up.

Plus there are a number of other PPC engines that don't
cost an arm and a leg, like 7 search.

Hmm. I've tried organic carrots, organic potatoes, and organic beef. But not organic baby clothes.

Would you recommend them with a red wine sauce or is the vinaigrette better?

That's just mean, but I was wondering what kind of niche that was.
But some people will buy anything.

Pretty tough niche from my experience, but it's nothing. Like anything you promote online, SEO, ppc, blog posts, classifieds etc.. There's actually endless things to do, even taking things abit offline.

    Good luck

        In no particular order:
        1. First develop a brand, understand what you are yourself first.
        2. Get on forums in your niche. Have a link in your signature.
        3. Get blogging.
        4. SEO your site. Make sure there is a good sprinkling of keywords on each page.
        5. 250-750 words of text to catch googles attention.
        6. Get listed in directories in your niche. this adds credibility to your site.
        7. Team up with sites complimentary to your own. You link to them, and vise versa.

        Then watch the traffic flow.

Start writing a blog posts targeting parents. You need to create a flow of organic traffic to your site if you do not plan to spend any advertising money. To do this oyu need good content and quality back-links..

If you had money to invest I would suggest using Facbook ads and set them to target 20-35 year olds who are moms. Using targeted ads like such will give you great results... But even then to gain trust and keep your visitors on your site you should have lots of quality content to keep them engaged.

Good Luck! MSG me if you need help.

Blogging, Blog commenting, social media, and video. If you have kids of your own and take pics, Instagram could even be a great market for you.

Most important, get involved in the community (which is what all the techniques are pointing to). Start getting to know the popular bloggers and the avid readers. Find the mommy bloggers that are promoting affiliate products and build relationships with them.

Invite them to join your affiliate program when you have built up enough of a relationship.

Relationships are key in this type of niche!

Try digging some relevant baby articles or really cute baby photos with crazy outfit and post of your facebook fan page, people like to read and like these kinda things.

Well if someone does not have the money, one should put a good amount of effort to drive traffic through Search Engine and Social Media, SEO is still the way, although requires a constant effort but'll provide the most targeted and valuable traffic.

Video, video, video! Plaster them everywhere. Do several dozen 1-2 minute infomercials. Set up a blog in your site and start writing about your products. Eventually Google will start bringing some amounts of traffic. Maybe set up an affiliate program, also start posting one item each day that is on sale on Facebook and on twitter with a link coming back to that one item on your site so people can check out. Oh and then I would do lots of video! Video, video, video! Youtube is free. 50 is a good start, then create 50 more, and then create 50 more. And make sure you optimize them for search.

  • Start with branding your site.
Social proof your site. Hit all the main social networks.
    Brand those social sites.
Start creating your content. Use the trifecta (as I like to call it)
Write content, 1 origianl for site re-write for article directories.
Take that content and create your pdf to submit to directories
Create your PPT and submit to directories
Use the PPT for making videos and submit those.

PM me if you have any questions.

Pinterest is definitely the way to go in that particular niche. Pinterest is predominantly women aged 25 to 35 or so. That would be your ideal demographic.

I use Pinterest to promote some handbags and they eat it up on there. The best part is that anything your pin to Pinterest and gets "re-pinned" the link to your site just goes on and on and on. Anytime I post there I see almost immediate traffic to my site. In fact, Pinterest is the main source of my traffic.

        Happy Pinning!

I see you only have one post so I have 3 questions.

      1. Did you read all of the reply's in here before you posted your question?
There are lots of answers in there.
      2. Why do you think getting traffic to an eCommerce site is any different than any other site?
      3. Did you post your 1st question here just to get people to look at your site?
The reason I ask is because of question #1 and a search of the warrior forum for that question and doing the answers could keep you busy for the rest of your life.

I considered purchasing a site in this niche a while back but the niche seemed a little weird to me and didn't fit my mold, personally. From my limited research on this niche, it is a profitable niche. With dropshipping profits around 30%.

I would recommend expanding from baby clothes and include cribs, mattresses, bedding, etc. I would then focus on setting up an email capture on the site. And have someone put together a strong PPC campaign. Once profitable, I'd run an SEO campaign for the necessary keywords.

All the while, searching for additional items to add to the site to expand, and niches that would appeal to the same audience; ie. new mothers/fathers, childrens toys, etc.

Having joint WF is the first greatest achievement,i would advice you look for more free forums to participate in considering the fact that you have no budget for the same.
Also good in your list of to do, is your presence in social media sites, create Facebook pages, joint already existing pages,be active in Twitter,Google+ etc...make your impact felt...and make sure to include your link whenever u make an update or a contribution to a forum discussion.

While the advice here is sound there are some other marketing areas specifically for ecommerce but we would need to know what cart.

Wow so many suggestions. And all good useful advice, but you can't do them all.

Choose one and stick to it until you have mastered it.

To confuse matters more I'll give you my 2 cents worth.

Network with people who have blogs in your niche. I have a young baby and a wife who's into organic stuff for babies so I know that it is a massive niche with people who have serious amounts of money to spend. You will make money in this niche if you make a plan and stick to it.

So here goes - I've adapted this from something I read in the war room the other day.

Write 3 awesome articles or pay someone on iwriter to write 3 high quality ones on some related topic. If you pay someone make sure you pay out to get an elite writer to get high quality stuff.

Head over to technorati. It's a site that has a massive database full of blogs in all different niches. Find the most popular ones in the 'organic baby stuff' niche. You want a blog that is run by an individual with regular blog posts. To check their traffic stats head over to compete.com.

Now send a quick email to the blog owner saying how much you like their blog and that you've attached a couple of free articles for them. If they like them they can do what they want with them ie publish them on their site.

Mention that if they do would they mind putting a link to your site in the bio box? Add a nice smiley pic of yourself and a couple of lines description.

It's hard work coming up with new posts to put on your blog so this blog owner is gonna be pretty stoked to get 3 free ones right there.

You'll get a whole pile of qualified traffic coming in pretty soon.

Wow! There are a lot of great suggestions here already and I'm quite sure you've already found the best option but I'd just like to say that it's a good idea to fill you website with unique and relevant articles. Also, you should seriously becoming a guest writer in a blog which is of the same niche as yours and then have your website link provided at the end of your article.

There are many parenting forums out there that you can join. Parents would appreciate the helpful information that you can offer about the benefits of organic products usage for their little ones.

So, you basically are looking for free traffic, right? For baby clothes I guess you can use Facebook and Pinterest. Create a fan page on FB and drive sales from there (getting fans would be a challenge though). On pinterest, pin good images and get into boards that have stuff similar to yours. The traffic is really good there.
