Hi guys,

I'm going to be sellling physical products and also offering an affiliate program for affiliates to sell my products. And yes, I also want to run a blog too!

Am I falling into the "trap" that WP is the only way to go these days and that conventional websites are somehow inferior?

I know nothing about WP but from what I've seen it's not too techie and I have intermediate skills with html.

That being said, I'd really appreciate any suggestions as to what platform or software to use that covers selling my products, offering Afilliate Sign Ups and yacking away on my blog!

Regards to all.

Check Opencart for your ecommerce site. It has a built in affiliate module. You can use either Opencart blog plugins or you can incorporate a WP blog with an opencart story. Just Google "Opencart and WordPress" and you'll find a lot of info on how to do it.

Woo Commerce works great for creating a store front with Wordpress and has so many extensions that do a lot of stuff, including an affiliate program extension to offer an affiliate program on the site. It has the benefit of being able to post blog posts but still be a storefront. I use it and love it.

Sitemile.com has some great options for selling. I also happen to have developer rights to all of their themes and plugins.

Choosing a theme of WP go on with it. WP is easier than others and you won't get troubled.
