Hi warriors,
I just got started in internet marketing, and now I've got two products here, both being php web scripts. As a newbie, I only want to maintain one product. Then, when I get better, I'll maintain multiple products. The first product is a membership site script, for basically any purpose. The second product is a shopping cart script, with only the purpose of that of an e-commerce site. The second product specializes in e-commerce, while the first roughly (not professionally) specializes anthing.

What do you warriors think will sell and convert better?

Thanks,
Jonathan

It depends. What would you do with either?

Let's say for a moment that you have both the shopping cart script AND the membership site.

What products would you sell? What information could would you want to provide in your membership site?

Which niche are you thinking of going into?
Which do you have more of a passion for, selling products or information?

The point of my questions is to identify what your main passion is. Pursuing something you're passionate about is what will be the clincher that will make the site that follows (whether it's selling products or memberships related to that passion) a success.

        Krachuk,
You have the same passion that will help you succeed, if you have a focal point (tea). You could go many different ways with it. But I would recommend positioning yourself as an expert.

Get a website going with a unique, memorable domain name. On your site, you sell different brands of tea, basically directing them toward others' websites (drop-ship or other companies), after signing up for each site you want to promote as an affiliate. Build a mailing list, where you can keep marketing products to that list over and over. But don't forget to have real articles with good content, to make them more receptive to the offers you give them!

Maintain a blog where you discuss the topic and solicit interaction and feedback from others.

Start a mailing list that you can direct to your blog, and vice versa. And then you can sign up as an affiliate for many different "tea-related products" sold online (different teas, tea infusers, anything could go along with that niche) and market different products to that list as an affiliate to earn affiliate commissions when they check out the links you provide.

It takes time and effort to set all of this up and get going but it will be well worth it.

I don't know if this is helpful, but please let me know if I can offer anything further!

Are you trying to decide on what script to sell or what script to use?
If to sell then you may have a tough time unless you have some serious functionality going on.

If to use, then follow your instinct

You could try selling it on CodeCanyon.

Or perhaps other marketplaces. I believe trying to integrate the principal selling features of both will give you a blockbuster.

    Anyway good luck brother.

That's a great advice, actually: creating a membership or shopping cart plugin for Wordpress, Drupal or other popular CMS is better than having a custom PHP solution, especially if you want to start selling them fast and for a good price...

I now have the Sitemile.com line of themes and plugins to build sites with. You can pay them a visit and look at their products. I have a developer license with them and can build you a complete website.

These themes are devoted to a certain aspect of e-commerce so they should operate better than using a bunch of plugins. Their themes only seem to require one or two to get the job done.
