I am a bit confused, how exactly do I come about writing content for my niche website, I cant figure it out how much content do I write? If I have an affiliate product that I want to promote what is the best way to go about writing content for this.

Also If I use a WordPress website how many pages is good to have, how do niche websites differ from a standard website?

Thanks

I have always found that the more expensive the product, or the more parts to the product, the more description is necessary to adequately describe the product. For example, if you were selling a simple book, I would write maybe 200 words describing the general plot and how it helped me, but if I was selling a snowblower, I would need to describe the advantages this product has over others because a snowblower isnt just bought quickly but rather is researched and they are looking for specific information and I might write 500-800 words on it with many pictures and possibly diagrams.

A niche website is generally considered to be smaller than what many would be consider to be a "normal website" with only maybe 20-30 articles working best from my experience. I think niche websites are also more often EMDs while websites are often more brandable, but that is really more your own preference and varies a lot.

I cant really tell you how many pages is "good" you kind of have to figure out what works best for you... but personally, if I am making sales on a site, I will increase the posts while if the site is doing poorly it is better to just cut my loses, add adsense and some content and move on.

It all depends on the niche. No sense wasting a lot of time on the content when you are acting in a really less competitive niche. Tell something about your niche.

What a great set of questions Joedianis,

The fellas over at Internet Business Master recent conducted a webinar on Micro Niche Sites. I suggest you go check it out.

As for HOW much content to write... Strive for articles between 500-700 words. Be sure to include your keywords in your titles and subheadings as well.

As for writing content for your affiliate product... Imagine you going to tell a friend about how the product has helped you, or can help them. What would you say? What ever you would, instead of talking it out, write it out.

As for the amount of pages for your Wordpress site... Of course, use your home page to display your main keyword article. After that, add about 3-5 keyword post to your site and then include the "recent post" widget to your side bar.

Press on with greatness and keep it immaculate!

The quantity of content depends not only upon the niche but also on the key phrases you are targeting. At first target the keywords with less competition, then the more competitive ones. This way your content keeps on growing- that's the indication of a dynamic site. Second, you get some time to develop the content.

    How much content for what?
    For Google?
For your visitors? Visitors don't want to read much until they get hooked in.
A webiste is a website... Wordpress is an easy way to create and maintain your website.
It's not about how much content you write, it is about getting your message across.
It's not about how much traffic you have, but the quality of traffic you have.

No sense advertising on a sports network if you are selling kitchen appliances.
Now advertising BBQ grills on a sports network would be a different story

Identify your target and market to them, not to the world. And test, test, test.
Try very little content, a lot of content, in between content, upside down content, etc...

How about find some articles you like, copy bits and pieces of information you like. Go on Fiverr and pay $5 for someone to rewrite it for you (this way it passes CopyScape) and is compelling.

If writing is your weakness, then find a way around it and use your time more wisely.

For SEO purposes you can add supporting articles for longtail traffic and to support your main keywords. There is no exact number for how much you should have but just keep adding new content to rank for more keywords.
