I'm looking at Doba, World Wide Brands and Salehoo. Which one should I use to setup my deal of the day site?

I'm going to be setting up a local site catering to mom's and things they buy for their babies and kids.

Thanks.

I personally wouldn't sign up with any of those companies.

I would recommend contacting related suppliers/stores directly. These can be manufacturers that sell online and/or online stores that warehouse their own goods. Tell them about our website and see if they have any overstock and/or products that they are looking to liquidate.

Get your price per unit (including shipping) then add whatever markup you want and start promoting.

While that does sound like a great long term solution, it also sounds like it requires a lot of trial and error to find healthy relationships that work.

Do the 3 companies I mentioned above offer a short cut to get started by having already weeded out the bad drop shippers?

      No.

Sadly, there are no shortcuts. It took me 6 months of trial and error testing, researching and testing many products before I came up with a few that were somewhat profitable.

It is a tough game and anyone who tells you it isn't is either a financial genius or doesn't know what he or she is talking about.

      There is so much involved:

      1. Once you settle on a product is it over saturated in the market?

      2. Does the manufacturer enforce Minimum Advertised Prices (MAP)? If not you're screwed, because low ballers will sell below your cost to get you out of the market. They can play that game and wait you out. Believe me. Ever heard of Wal*Mart?

      3. Is the dropshipper reliable, or will they destroy your reputation by not delivering on time, or having a poor inventory supply?

There are hundreds of other questions that need answers that can only be found by risking your money and time.

It cost me more than $7,000 in start up costs before I found a few products that sell fairly well and yield reasonable profit margins (12 to 35 percent).

      Guess what?

If the market changes -- as it will -- these products could become over saturated or even outdated in a few months or years. Then it's back to square one -- research and testing.

That's the free market for you.

      No easy path.

What I'm looking to do is offer products on a local daily deals site that I'm building. I live in a community that I can easily market trendy clothing, boutique style items to women specifically.

That's why I thought one of those three sites would be the way to go to get started. But it sounds like I should hit up places like Alibaba, etc to find drop shippers?
