Converted 2 sales first 100 visitors

Cost me $17 on Adwords. Gross profit margins (before traffic acquisition costs and Paypal fees) $126.

Will be importing the same campaign into Adcenter as well. Will not get as much traffic but hopefully lower cost per click. By the way, I did phrase match for keywords in the ad groups.

I was very surprised I was able to get each visitor for 17 cents/click (but I did do a lot of research prior on the keywords) by capping the costs per click to 20 cents.

I haven't worked out the net profit but I guess somewhere around $100.

1 in 50 might be a bit of a fluke and the conversions may well slow. But I am hoping to get 6 or 7 sales per 1000 visitors.

I will report back again after 1000 visits.

I won't name the niche for fear of competition; however, let's just say its in the business sector with very good margins per product.

That's a good profit per order, now try scaling that to a thousand orders a day

Highly optimistic that. Its much easier said than done. Do you relaise even if the profit is $40 a product, that will be $40,000 a day and over $14m a year. I can only wish.

Even assuming 1 in 100 conversion rate, I would need some 100K traffic a day which I doubt is even possible for all the products I have on the store, some 18 of them. And like I say I expect the conversions to slow much more.

Anyway, let's see how things go.

Thanks. I don't expect to maintain these figures. In fact, traffic at the 20 cent per click (capping) has already declined so have increased them to 25 cents. I may introduce slightly more trafficked keywords and increased bids further and test. But obviously, when you go for competitive terms you need to convert faster to maintain profitability.

Nice job! We're the keywords not very competitive in order to cap CPC at .20 and still get traffic? I did an exact match campaign and my CPC needed to be over $1.00 in order to show on the first page for most keywords. Thanks

There are quite a lot of long tail terms where people do not always bid high and can convert well as long people land on a page that is relevant to the search term.

I spent many hours using the Google's keyword tool to mine data and to ensure they had good number of monthly searches done on them.

Having said that, I expect my costs to go up to around 25 cents on average because I reckon I fluked some of those clicks. Last 24 hours the number of clicks to the site decreased significantly so I have increased my bid to 25 cents for all clicks.

I could get much more traffic if I go for the slightly more popular terms and bid around 50 cents. But then you got to convert quickly to maintain margins.

I have some leeway since the margins on the products range from around $35 to $90.

I have experienced the opposite actually, over the last year I've been decreasing my cost per click and traffic has been increasing, I am consistently on the first spot for my keywords
