LLC-steps to create

This question is in response to another member's question about LLC creation. Before one goes about opening up a business account/banking, where two or more businesses will operate, should an LLC be created with said LLC name on account in order to elimanate the need for multiple accounts? Will this serve as an umbrella for all other businesses under the LLC name? Question 2: if I open a business account with only one business name on it, can it later be converted to an LLC to include multiple business ventures? Are there steps which will save me time and headache later? I don't know if this is very clear, but I hope you can answer some of my questions. Thanks, in advance.
