Best platform for pre-owned clothing

ECOMMERCE

Hi,

I have a customer who has a large volume of pre-owned prada, D&G, burberry and other high end ladies apparel. Ebay has locked down the store until the 90 day probationary period is over for new accounts.

Set up an Amazon webstore but TOS does not allow the sales of used/pre-owned clothing at this time.

Any other services or platforms that can be recommended for this type of merchandise?

Given that you will be doing a lot of different brands, products, categories and sub-categories, I would look at BigCommerce. While a lot of people like Shopify (I do too) it is not a good platform when you need to do lots of categories and subcategories and sub sub categories. Let me know if you need help with it.

  One of the other options was for the client to do their own store. However, they are rather new to the internet so Ebay was a good solution for them to get experience.

  Thanks 3D Dude. Get them a domain and set up in their own store with BigCommerce and they can be ready to go. BigCommerce does have presets for used products as well they just don't have a bunch of condition presets. What is great though, is it will connect to their eBay account to they can list products automatically from their store.

  An independent website is good, provided the items are authentic. eBay is ok to get experience it's just so bargain oriented that it becomes challenge for designer apparel merchants to make good profits (plus the fees). I'd put a few items on eBay to build an audience but promote the website to the extent that I could within ebays terms of service.
  
  Etsy- no. It's not the best place for big ticket items.
  
  I started out in this space- not pre owned though. And you can organically rank a site like this if you really understand shoppers and behavior. Selling pre owned Burberry is a whole different ball game than selling widgets trust me. If its legit authentic merchandise the site will do very well on its own without needinga Marketplace.

Screw ebay...

Great products to have. People love to buy used name brand clothing... wish I had that source!

Start your own site on WordPress using woo-commerce plugin (cause they are more secure) with an SSL on the checkout page.

Or use the eCommerce stores already mentioned (shopify, etc) as they have advantages too (ssl, merchant account, speed, mobile optimized, etc).

Magento solution for your product will be good. Create a good website with your own brand then start marketing to your present and new customers.

Etsy won't work in this case since they only allow the sale of handmade items or items that are considered "vintage".

Definitely look into setting up an ecommerce store. You can't go wrong with Big Commerce or Shopify. Both are easy to set up and operate even if there is little experience. It will also be fairly simple to drive traffic to the site because people are always looking for high-end clothing.
