I haven't found too much information regarding selling on amazon.

For those of you who have experience with selling on amazon, what would you recommend to a new seller?

I have the ability to sell thousands of products in a particular niche.

How do you decide what to sell on Amazon? I looked at some of the Best Sellers and a lot of them my profit margin would be very slim, but I still would be profitable.

Any other tips would be great as well. I have never sold using Amazon, but I would like to become a seller while building up my ecommerce store, this way I can start producing some revenue.

Any particular guide you would suggest?

I understand the basics, but I am sure there are those small things sellers do that make a huge difference. Those small little tips/tricks are what I am looking for, this way I don't waste time and learn by trial and error.

Here is my one piece of advice about selling on Amazon. If Amazon is already selling it, then you are ok to go ahead and sell it on the site. If it is not currently being sold on Amazon, stay away unless you want to have your business destroyed.

The one thing all these courses fail to mention is, if you start selling a product on Amazon, and it does well, Amazon will go directly to the manufacturer and set up a relationship.

Remember, unlike eBay, Amazon is competing with you. I have had several clients that were enticed by Amazons huge traffic and 6 to 12 months later found their best selling (and highly profitable) products being sold by Amazon directly. This is why I don't even suggest using Amazon's merchant account since you don't want to be giving them that data.

Best stuff to sell on Amazon are private label products, or stuff already being sold that you can compete on price. If its private label, you will have to set up a pro account ($40 bucks a month) and get a UPC exemption. And don't forget, Amazon takes 15% of your gross as the fee.

The other areas to sell and consider, depending on your niche includes sears.com, walmart.com, bestbuy.com and others that have a third party network.

Here is a link to get started Selling on Amazon - Sell Your Products on Amazon.com take some time to read it.

Once you uploaded your first product give it time to sell. Since you have no sales it takes time for a buyer to seek you out. Once the first product sells, Amazon e-mails to ship the product. Follow Amazon's time table and get the product out ASAP ! Amazon will give you a break out of what money they take and other payment information. Hopefully your first customer will leave positive feed back.

The competition is strong on Amazon and dont expect to get rich at the start. It took more than a month for my first product to sell. Two weeks later the second one sold ! Good Luck with your attempt.

Amazon is less "new user friendly" and more so "Business friendly" - but that doesn't mean someone that is new to selling through Amazon can't get on the boat. However, Amazon is pretty strict in terms of how you do business. You mess up a couple times, ship the wrong item out, or send something late - Amazon doesn't believe much in second chances. Focus on doing things correctly right from the start.

Much like eBay, the most inexpensive seller makes the sale. Also look into FBA if you think it might work for you. I love FBA.
