I just setup G shopping and it's still awaiting approval. I noticed that it is tied into my Adwords as its own campaign. Am I supposed to set keywords for G-Shopping like it was a regular Adwords campaign? It's a lot of different products so I'm not sure how I would do it... Thanks

No, With Google Product Listings (PLA) you do not bid on keywords like with Adwords. Its a different system entirely. Instead you bid on placements via data submitted in your product feed.

Thanks. Now I'm having a heck of a time getting my products approved on auto-datafeeed Shopping. I never had a problem with adwords. I must be missing some info or something, I will have to take a closer look into it. I didn't realize it would be so hard, then again I'm not too savy with datafeeds, ftp etc etc.

I feel your pain - most of my new sites have the retail tower - automatic feed creations to google shopping and I have had no luck at all.

( a few years back on an old ecommerce store I used shopping feeds that I had manually created with an XL spread sheet - not fun but it got the job done)

I linked to my existing adwords account and they told me that I needed to give them a card for google shopping (even though it was linked to my existing adwords) ..so I added a card anyways

Then they told me I didn't have the right data (Unique product indentifiers were missing) which wasn't right

I just seem to hit road block after roadblock with Google shopping now - which is a shame as I believe if used right it can be quite profitable

You need to look at the feeds being created and make sure they meet Google's criteria. We have a whole article about it on our website that I won't link to but one thing you should definitely make sure you are doing is including two of the three unique product identifiers Google requires. More info on feed requirements can be found at the following two links:

          Unique product identifiers
          Summary of attribute requirements
          Signature

            thanks Dave!

thats the problem I DO have 2 out of the 3 criteria they ask for and am still having problems - very frustrating

Especially since years ago I manually did the feeds and it worked perfectly (although it was a drag)

I am using the retail tower app that comes with Big Commerce

              Hey Al,

We've never used any app with BigCommerce for that. We have just used the Google Product Feed functionality that is already built into the shopping cart and it works very well. You DO need to go into either the product export file and tweak a few things before re-importing that fixed file or you can do it the tedious way, one product at a time in the admin Control Panel.

We found all of the information we needed in the two Knowledge Base articles on BigCommerce's website:

How do I enable my products to be listed on Google Shopping?
How do I submit my product feed to Google Shopping?

The tutorial we created simply clarifies a few things in those two articles that some people may find confusing and also takes people step-by-step through the rudimentary processes of signing up with Google Merchant Center and AdWords.

We have never used the Retail Tower App but have meant to take a look at it (where to squeeze that into our ever-expanding to-do list?). Since you are familiar with it, does it do a decent job of configuring Bing feeds for you? Is that a free service, too?

From what I have read, their support is pretty good at Retail Tower and folks that have had problems setting up their feeds were coached through it very well over the phone by the Retail Tower support staff.
