I just signed up with Doba and searched pretty much there entire inventory. I have a niche idea in mind i was looking to get going but also figured using my ebay account to sell. I have compared most of there prices with ebay sold stuff and they are almost identicle. Difference is ebays items coming free S/H. Were doba charges a good penny for it. Anyone else try doba? Or have a good dropshipper to get products from? I did it about 10 years ago with some success. Thank You for your support.

I have never used it. I prefer to set up relationships directly with suppliers and would be willing to bet most people here will tell you just about the same thing. I love the idea of Doba but like any other "turn key" system it never really lives up to the hype.

  • I am glad Dwolfe referenced that thread!

Peruse it thoroughly! I remember contributing to it, as Doba is an absolute waste.

I remember vividly talking to one of their sales reps and having them hang up on me after saying: ""Well, since you OBVIOUSLY have everything already figured out, it looks like we have nothing to talk about! *click*"!"

To this day, I relish that sentiment.

They have NO idea what they are talking about. In fact, they are NOW telling their customers in the sales call to NOT DO RESEARCH ON THEIR ITEMS!?

    WTH?

    Red flag, right there.

No way you can make money with them. Gotta go direct with someone. Even through a distributor you won't make money. Too much back end dollars running around. They can sell for what you buy.

Stay far away from middle men and go direct, you can check out our site for an extensive list of good drop shippers, and take a look at our powerful software that will help you when you go direct with drop shippers.

      Thanks

I agree. I send all my book readers to safe sites where they can buy direct from the factories at genuine factory prices, even for very small quantities.

Why buy from wholesalers or dropshippers when you can buy where they buy?

Go directly to the manufactures...you can find plenty of them by googling "Trade Shows" and "Merchandise Markets" then look for their directory of manufacturers...

There are a ton of other techniques...the fact is..."IT IS FAIRLY EASY" to find reliable drop shippers...without using Doba or WWB...

        Cheers,
        Sam

The method Sam suggests is reasonably safe if looking for manufacturers in your own country, but if you want to import it is a whole different ball game.

I often see advice given in posts suggesting just Google to find overseas suppliers. That is very risky and has led a lot of people into big problems. Many sourcing web portals are full of unreliable suppliers and worse.

There is a better way, but I am not allowed to self promote.

Utilize a website called tsnn.com - if you Google it, you're weeding through a lot of garbage.

TSNN.com is a great website where you can see tradeshows in your area where you can meet with the suppliers/manufacturers face to face.

Don't know why folks are so down on trade shows (not saying the posters here are), but they are a great place to go to research and make contacts. That's why the vendors go! They WANT more business.

My advice for the smaller business is to head to the back of the show and the edges. That's where new companies and more innovative products are. They front of the show and middle aisles are the big guys and they likely won't do direct business with you.

Also look for international pavilions. Lots of good opportunities there are well.

When I used to go to CES regularly I'd always find the interesting stuff in the outlying areas.

Also check out locally them merchandise marts. Here in Seattle there is one for home related stuff. Four floors of company show rooms staffed by manufacturers reps. You'll get the real lowdown there and I think in the end you will always get a better deal with a face to face discussion. You need a reseller license to get in (yes, you have to bring it with you).

Forget Doba, you can't make money with them! Well. enough money to make it worth your while!

The best way to find wholesalers, is directly through the supplier. Whatever Item you are interested in, buy 1 of it and look on the box cover then call the supplier and ask who their distributors are. MOST OF THIS WHOLESALERS ARE SCAMS.
