    Hi kimbb,

Have a look at this thread wholesale websites There are only 28 posts and I suggest it is worth reading them all.

I teach how to go direct to the factory for serious profits. If you think that is too hard, PM me.

I have used Alibaba in the past and I had no issues. I bought jewelry from sellers. At first I was very scared sending lots of money via western union to vendors but all my items came. What I did notice was, after adding the shipping cost, I was actually better off going to New york to get my products, this was the case for the jewelry, am sure about other products.

You may consider yourself very lucky. Sending money via WU is extremely risky unless you have absolute certainty about the credentials of the people you are sending it to.

If you can buy your products cheaper in NY, you must have bought from a dropshipper via alibaba. If you want to make serious money you need to buy direct from the manufacturer. Jewelery is one product line I have had personal experience with and I know how huge the margins can be.

For example, you could not imagine how cheap you can buy sterling silver. (Not hallmarked, but still the same silver.) PM me if you want more information.

I've worked for Alibaba Group on a marketing team to bring in more U.S. manufacturers and distributors which was a 5 months project, the company itself is great. The marketplace is uncontrollable, and things such catching scammers on the site can usually only be done after the scammer has already scammed someone and there is sufficient evidence of such.

I suggest to those who are sending large amounts from the U.S. to use Wells Fargo for international wire transfers because they are very supporting of you if you do get scammed. Most banks won't be able to assist you. Another very popular method is MoneyGrams.

If you are very serious about doing anything other than a couple hundred dollars a month in purchasing, I highly recommend either setting up a time to meet with your supplier or potential supplier in person and inspecting the goods for yourself - or work with a reliable company in China to determine if they are the best source for the items you are looking to purchase as 99% of the "Manufacturers" on Alibaba are middlemen and/or shipping companies. Then hire someone through a freelance website to cross reference your findings.

I've got some hilarious horror stories.
