I'm an Ebay powerseller in a niche womans market. I have been selling for 3 years and have 20k feedback. I have an email list that we have yet to use with 10.5k unique woman shoppers from around the world. I average 2.5k unique visitors to our store each day. We sell on average 3000 items per month auction style.

We've researched Amazon, Clickbank and Dropshipping. Dropshipping seems to take advantage of ebay traffic the most but we're unsure if that's the best route.

Does anyone have a good JV idea or want to offer suggestions on how to best use this traffic and list?

thank you

First off, I just want to say:

    CONGRATULATIONS for doing it RIGHT.

Not everyone who sells on eBay has the wherewithal to create a list with all of the sales they make. So VERY good job on that.

Although I question your tactic in selling everything as an AUCTION, I think there are better ways of selling your items for higher profits more often, and ranking them very high. For example, you can always spin the listings and increase your views to actions ratio and stay at the top of your rankings for a long, long time.

However, I have to admit I haven't researched the specific market behavior of your items, so they might conform to the rare situation where auctions are appropriate.

But, with that, are you retargeting your list for your items to say, an external website?

eBay isn't (and cannot) penalize you for this because you're not doing an 'off eBay transaction'.

After the initial sale, that customer is now OWNED by you. And you can now market to them however you see fit. You can then take them to your external website for any sort of deals that wouldn't have any sort of 3rd party fees (eBay or Paypal) that will be taken out of the transaction.

Essentially, you can leverage the traffic that eBay gives you to get your list built (and make a profit doing it) to then RETARGET that traffic to your site. Even if they're sold for the same price, you can make a higher profit.

Make sure you're using a reputable autoresponder, though (like Aweber) so that you're emails aren't flagged as Spam as often)

And when you send out your broadcasts, make sure you're not doing hard sales and 'coupons' each and every time as well. You'll want to establish yourself as an authority in your niche so that people know you're giving them VALUE.

Basically be a person that gives them 'value' that happens to 'sell women's stuff'. You'll see traffic and conversions like crazy.

    I hope this helps!

    • Thanks for the props on the list, I can't even sell my sister on keeping one so I understand what you mean.

My sister has been doing the business for 12 years and got me started 3 years ago. Growth has been good but we're at the point where our supply line is nearing a plateau and we need to start looking in new directions.
We've tried selling buy it now and on a website but we do better the quicker we turn product over. We work long hours which is why its taken me so long to find time to start asking questions.

Do you recommend finding a new product to sell and then directing traffic to that item on a website?

      thanks

Great advice except for an ecommerce store I wouldn't use Aweber. As much as I like them they do have limits for ecommerce. They won't let you import your list so you will have to get another Opt-in to add to your list. I would suggest Mailchimp since they are perfectly fine with ecommerce, they auto-integrate with almost every shopping cart, you can import your list without an additional opt-in and as long as you have done business with them, they are ok with you doing this. There are services that automatically add you PayPal purchase email addresses to your mailchimp account.

Consider opening your own ecommerce store. Lots of options and I don't want us all to get into a p*ssing match at what the best cart is but consider BigCommerce as you can integrate it with your ebay ID to automate your sales.

Congrats on the number of sales and traffic! I still own my shares and love seeing this!

OnlineStoreHelp is right in his critique of my advice.

Aweber is good if it's the initial opt-in.

Although they do have an import tool, the only way you can import the contacts is if they RE OPT into your list - and the conversion rate of that isn't so impressive.

You'd be better using his suggestion with MailChimp because of the better importing of contacts.

        Good catch OnlineStoreHelp.
