Built a new eBay like site So what now?

Hi folks,

Have gotten version 1 of my eBay-ish site built. Its very new and I am interested in usage problems. Would you guys mind giving it a whirl? If so and apologies in advance here is the link to my site. eSwoop

    Get some buyers and sellers.

    Before that look into promoting it extensively, launch some promotions and such.
    Look into SEO too.

    What's your angle?

    I mean, what makes you BETTER than eBay? Why would people post/buy from your site and not eBay's?

    That needs to be promoted like CRAZY on your site because when you sell a GREAT product a GREAT way, sellers (and buyers) come back over, and over again.

    My angle is no fees for basic use from the eSwoop site. So if you want featured etc then pay for it else its free

    So, in order to justify the 'fee', you'll need some massive, massive traffic.

    Otherwise, 'featuring' the item wouldn't do much good since in your 'categories' your item would show up first (or on the first page) anyway.

    You're going to need a LOT of sellers, a lot of buyers, and a lot of turnover very quick.

    And I would basically have the angle of 'every listing is free' for now to attract them. You're not going to make money for a while, maybe sell some ad-space in the meantime, but once you have that massive traffic when people see the benefit of featured ads, it could be a feature you turn on when you have the sustainable traffic.
