Conversion Help

by cpusl 11 replies
So, I put up a facebook ad to a particular product in my site that created over 300 views. but I did not have 1 conversion. I read that you should be striving for that 2 percent mark.

I was hoping that I could get some advice on my conversion tactics. My ad has a picture of both a backpack and free flashlight side by side with the words:

"Buy Before March 10th and Receive Free Atac A1 Tactical Flashlight With Purchase! Buy Now!"

The link to the product page is here:
RUSH 72 Backpack - BigDogSurvival.com

I am just getting into ads and trying to convert so any help would be hugely appreciated.

Try the text without the flash light and also increase the font size so that it is visible to the user.

I'm sorry, can you elaborate a bit more?

Had a look - here are few ideas to try:
    1. Add the Bonus on the same page as the main product
    2. Main the Add to cart Button Bigger and stand out (think amazon colour - orange)
    3. Cross out Price and insert Actual price- again amazon
    4. "Limited offer only 50 available" (Maybe cross out 50 and make it 32 or similar)

You might want to try bing for ads (cheaper than Adwords) and you can also buy ads on amazon, but not sure on the cost.

Thanks for these, I will have to try some. I'm not sure how much power I have over the price cross out and where I would put the limited offer only 50 available. I am using a modified bigcommerce template. I will see what I can do.

  • 2% is a misnomer.

The bigger stat you should be looking at is cost per customer acquisition- as you should not be going in the red for that. For example, if you're spending 100 dollars, and you have a 2% conversion rate - but your profit margin for that 2% conversion rate is 40 dollars, you're at a net loss of 60 dollars!

2% conversion rate at that point does you no good. (For a comparison, my conversion rate average over 3 months is 18 percent, and my cost per customer acquisition is 0 dollars. [Please no 'THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS FREE TRAFFIC' sermons-- I'm talking monetary measurements.] )

But to be fair, I'm not against paid advertising. Just make sure you're on top, and measuring the right numbers.

I am so new to all of this that I don't have many stats to rely on at this point. Trying to just get my first few consistent sales. I have had a few spotty sales here and there.

  • Let me ask this then --

How much have you spent on advertising and how much net profit have you made from your 'spotty sales'?

From there, let's do some number crunching.

The numbers are very easy to crunch. I think I spent 150 thus far on advertising on adwords and some free facebook ads and sold nothing. My spotty sales were through my design company coupons and some random organic searches. My serp rankings are moving up which will help traffic but I would love some sales from ads but feel like I am just throwing money out.

I would be digging to how the sales were created- what keyword, what it cost you, test and adjust- that data is gold -its not a quick process....

As started 2% is a number that's thrown around at best...it all depend on so many things.

A why ago I used the Ask database (askdatabase.com) to ask people anonymously why they didn't buy today - Got lots of feedback really fast.....

Not to discourage you but ive never had a lot of luck with cpc ads. The cost of being in aprime location coupled with a usual conversion rate will eat away at most any profit margin. At best i would use it for product testing and such....not as a means of generating income. (Just my two cents, im sure you can find a member here that does well with ppc and even some wso's)
