I've tried this by ordering several cheaper products to inspect myself before selling...

Unfortunately my products showed up not at all like they were pictured. They looked like they had been ran over.

However this is just my experience, if you would like to know what is selling, just take a look at completed listings on ebay, you will find a TON there.

    Hope this helps!

  • One thing you want to get yourself away from is the 'sell products' mentality - and think 'NICHE' mentality.

If you want a long-lasting, self perpetuating business, you'll want to stay away from the finding products to sell' and more of the 'find A NICHE' to sell that has good demand (but not high demand) and has MANAGEABLE competition.

From this, you can see if it has commercial intention.

Also - you wouldn't want to look at the completed listings, since this has a lot of bad information and unless you know how to find the 'smartest kids in class' you'll be looking a a lot of 'C' students.

A better tool, for finding NICHES on eBay is here:

GoGo DropShipping is a leading drop ship directory. Not sure of the cost but they can help find a niche.

The key to finding a good niche is to look at supply and demand, just like you would for an offline business. You can look at demand by using a keyword tool and seeing how many people are searching for an item and you can look at supply by looking at the top 10 ranking websites in Google (or wherever you plan to sell the items) and seeing how strong they are.

      Some other important factors are:

      1) Intent to buy - does the keyword phrase show intention to make a purchase?
      2) Expected profit per order - Anticipate the average order total and multiply by a 20% margin.
      3) Selection at retail giants - if the product type is available in a wide selection locally it probably doesn't make sense to sell in an online store.
