What sort of packaging should I use and where can I get it for selling mass products on eBay?

    I recently got a catalog from uline.com they seem reasonable and have a few warehouses so supplies arrive pretty quick.

        Not sure what you mean. But when I sold small items on ebay I use to send them in jiffy bags. There were a padded envelope I bought from my post office for about $1 each. The other option is get the manufacturer to pack them individually in padded bags already so you don't have to buy packaging yourself. But know that it will take more volume when you import it.

  • If you go to UPS they HAAAAAAAAAAAATE it when you wrap up boxes in paper and slap a packing slip on them.

    Why? (I actually asked them when they told me to stop doing this- and it makes perfect sense)

    The packaging can rip off and the sticker can get lost. They would rather you just put the sticker right there on the box so that nothing will happen.

    Plus, the boxes are engineered for packaging purposes from the manufacturer.

    (But, admittedly, this is only in the case of shipping out items that are pre-packaged/boxed from the manufacturer)

      Uline is VERY expensive, especially if you are doing volume. But they do have a great selection and fast service.

      Which type of packaging depends on which sorts of merchandise you are shipping. Fragile items require extra padding while some items don't require any padding.

        If you are on a budget, find local retail stores for boxes, but you have to find retail stores that ship in several small boxes. Places like Walmart which does a large volume of business, ships in mainly large boxes. You Can find good small boxes but you wont go there and find 30 of them at once. Places like small grocery stores, and places like Dollar Tree, Dollar General, and my favorite was always the local malls which would round up boxes for me that were small.

        On a large scale, there are thousands of companies out there that warehouse and package inventory for other companies and handle their logistics, and most will HAPPILY sell you 100 pcs of 10x10x10 boxes. BEFORE you buy them though, make sure you check out the prices for the boxes on Ebay. You should be paying about 30% less in person for boxes and other packaging materials. If you are just starting out, I also recommend some packing peanuts. I buy huge bags of them for about $25.00 a bag, and spend probably 10 cents per box on packing peanuts. If you buy a lot of the same product to resell, you can figure out how how to save on shipping by buying boxes that are slightly larger than the items themselves, but you have to do so in a generalized way because you can save even more money by buying a box that fits 2 or more different types of items so that when you purchase the boxes themselves, you get a discount on buying so many at once. If I spend 80 cents per box for 100 of a specific size, I can usually expect to only spend 70 cents per box if I buy 200. (Which is just an example) This is a savings of $20 which can Really add up if you are shipping out thousands of things a month later on. I also recommend a packing peanut dispenser although you can easily make your own.

        Bubble mailers are great (I recommend eline) but the postage service hates them for things that aren't really flat. I saved a lot of money by switching to boxes by an offer by my carriers because they said they could process them more efficiently. Sometimes if a bubble mailer isn't scanned correctly, it's sent to large bins and sent back through the line to be scanned again by a machine. Sometimes it has to go through several times, which could be the cost of a day or 2, the item sitting at the same sorting facility and not with your customer.

    I would recommend going on eBay and looking for cardboard boxes or poly mailers, whichever you need. You can find every size imaginable and you can buy them in bulk for extremely cheap prices. Uline is good, but as someone else mentioned above they can get extremely expensive.
