Selling Niche Physical Products with Affiliate Commission

Sorry for the DP in the main forum.

I apologize if this has been posted and answered, but I cannot seem to find the exact answer for my circumstances. Only ones for digital products.

I have a niche physical product that I am looking to sell that is used in cheerleading gyms. It is a piece of sports and development equipment. To encourage a grass roots push of this equipment I want to setup a situation where a cheerleading gym could have their own personal link they give to their members to purchase this product (and eventually multiple products). When the athlete purchases this product they enter in their shipping information and pay through the link provided by gym (I would call this an affiliate link, but affiliates only seem to deal in electronic products). The gym gets a nice hefty commission and their end of the deal is done. I collect my portion, get sent shipping information and a label, put it on the product and send directly to the customer who purchased the product. The gym themselves only has to get involved as providing the link and pushing the product. We would then all receive our money ideally through paypal.

I am having lots of trouble figuring out exactly who can handle this type of situation. Physical product affiliate selling that works through paypal seems to not be a very common practice. For the ones I want to sign up for to try it they are asking for tax information before I know it even works. Help Warror members! What do you recommend? Thank you!

You set up your store/site/sales page, then you hook up with a network like shareasale, or commission junction and let them handle the affiliates for you

Agreed, you can use something like shareasale (lower cost to get set up as a merchant). OR you can have a merchant-run affiliate program, meaning it's either built in or added on to your ecommerce solution and it handles affiliate tracking, payment tracking, etc.

Paypal does have a way to split commission between a seller and affiliate, it's used on the Warrior Forum for WSOs. I don't know if that feature is available for physical products.

The second issue is the tax issue. If you're not set up as a legit business (otherwise the tax issue shouldn't bother you) then you will come across stumbling blocks with this.

If it were me, I'd use Amazon Webstore and Amazon Fulfillment. Amazon webstore doesn't accept paypal though but it does have affiliate management built in. I'd be hands-off and focus on recruiting participating affiliate gyms.

Thank you both for the help.

This is honestly an idea I brought to the guy who sells the product. I want to be an affiliate for him. I shall look up sharesale and commission junction. We are going to use the paypal version for early beta work.
