I got my merchant account. I am NOT thrilled about this and wont say why all this happened ( not my fault, it was theirs is the low down) but I have to go through a processing "period" and show proof of delivery and proof that the monies came from my account and that I didnt wait for the merchant to give the money to my bank account and then turn around and order. Yeah, Yeah I can do all this but like I said NOT thrilled about it.

How in the world though do I get PROOF OF DELIVERY on goods I do not own and order from a supplier? Do you all just tell them to make sure it has a proof of delivery attached to it or what. If I process orders without this, it could be a big time shut down for me YET again but I cant SEE how they are sending things out, but I need to make sure this is done.

I contacted all of my suppliers to inquire about this but how do you all handle this? I am starting to regret ever opening my business.

    What are you talking about?

    Are you talking about dropshipping.

    Don't you get tracking numbers

You should not regret opening a business, you should regret not learning how to run one

Proof of Delivery would come from the form of the yellow card ( sometimes other colors) that shows up in your mailbox saying someone is trying to give you a package or other item. The Proof of Delivery is completed by them signing that card. THIS is what my merchant wants, I already asked why the tracking which I signed up for both UPS and USPS would not be enough to suffice as proof of delivery. Why, is beyond me. Certainly if I have a valid tracking number going to the address of where the order came from, you would think that would be enough. Although, the best protection from fraud when it comes to yes, dropshipping, would be to have the purchaser sign for that purchase. That way the customer cannot say they didn't receive the purchase, even if you have proof that it was shipped. And excuse me, but your last sentence was ignorant. Going to business school and then coming here to ask questions, asking other people how they do things, and certainly finding out as much information as I can does not equate not knowing how to run a business. It does however, equate to me learning how to run my own business. Sorry I asked the question in a way you couldn't understand. Even if I wasn't dropshipping ( and for certain items I won't be), the best protection against fraud is sending the package with proof of delivery.

Because of what I went through with my merchant account to begin with-written in other posts, that and ONLY that is why I began to feel regret, not because I couldn't figure out how to run things.

I have a nice majority of my own stock. Shipping out my own stock won't be enough to suffice either. They need to see proof that when an order is placed, I used my own funds, out of my own bank account, to order that item. They don't want to see that I waited until the merchant funds were transferred into my account to order it. Technically, that is the way it SHOULD be-using my own funds. The requirements of MC/Visa are this as well. I can't pay myself through my bank account for stock I already own. . Then again, if I get crafty enough, I might be able to think of a way to do that..... so I could lose money I guess.

In case no one understood the question, what do you obtain from your customers to prove proof of delivery to your merchant bank just in case they call the credit card company (or you) and say "hey, I never received what I ordered?".

With dropshipping (which this is a dropshipping forum) we are not in control of the inventory or how the item is shipped a lot of times. I contacted each of my suppliers via email and asked them if they could send any orders "proof of delivery" required. If I do not hear from them via email, then I will call them. I know from purchasing my stock through two of my suppliers ( and some were in large orders) that NO proof of delivery was required. I was a bit upset to come home and see a very large order just sitting on my porch.

Are they asking for signed proof of delivery or just proof of delivery?

If they are looking for proof of delivery, I would submit each order, after delivered, with a pdf of the order and the tracking results in one file.

I know you don't like the way agmccall responded, but I get where he's coming from. If you have the tracking numbers, why don't you know to get proof of delivery from that?

Certainly if I have a valid tracking number going to the address of where the order came from, you would think that would be enough.
No, it's actually not. It only shows tracking, not delivery.

    1- packages are insured
2- signature confirmation is placed on all orders over a certain amount
3- we submit the order, the page from auth.net with the AVS response and the tracking results from the courier, all in one PDF file.
4- If the order was "driver release" or other such, we file an insurance claim. Usually with UPS/FedEx contacting the recipient this will weed out any liars. With USPS, we use endicia so we insure w UPIC. If the customer claims package was stolen from mailbox, we file claim with USPS Postal Inspectors for theft of mail, again, a liar will usually not proceed. We only have 1-2 lost packages per year.

I know how to get proof of delivery inside of ups or usps websites with the tracking info . I was just wondering if you had your suppliers ever issue out a sig card to be signed. I checked with all of mine and they can do this for ad added fee so I will require that myself on certain purchases. Thanks all and herdfan, I am starting to hear you very loud and clear on this!

They simply want to see a tracking number via ups, fedex or something their team can check on their side.
