Am I shooting myself in the foot by merging niches??

Originally I created a website to sell ebooks in the Paranormal genre, both fiction and non fiction.

Recently I've been planning on creating a eCommerce store geared towards comic book collectibles, maybe even the Steampunk niche. The reason for this is mainly that my stepdad needs to start selling in this area and I need to help him.

Anyways, I somehow feel that selling books in the Paranormal genre is not necessarily connected with comic book collectibles or even steampunk.

I'm thinking of keeping the same "brand" name for all of these.

My question is... what do you guys think? Is merging these different niches a good idea or a bad one? Should I use different names for the 2 sites, or keep it all under one name?

The website for Paranormal books is: 7thSpring.com

Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.

If your web site is known as "7thSpring.com", and your customers were targeted, I think it could be dangerous to mix genders. Diversify its product can be a good idea, but they must have something in common and join one that has the same piblic Interests.

I would not recommend to merge 2 totally unrelated niches, since they would be more difficult to promote. But if you have an online store you can sell all kind of stuff from it. Just keep a seperate website for every niche for promotion purposes.

I would keep them separate. It'll be easier and more effective to target customers that way.
