ecommerce site in Germany for German target group!

Hi there

I would be interested if anyone here is from Germany and has experience with ecommerce site building. Of course I could sell via ebay or Amazon, but I ant my own shop. There are options like XTcommerce, but I like the look and feel of shopify.

But I am afraid the Germans need more payment options. Most important is payment made by direct debit. Then maybe paypal and then credit card.

Any experience you want to share?

I am thinking about several shops but mainly think about one shop with one product for now!

      Hey Marco,

      I am from germany.
      The most popular Payment methods in Germany for online shopping are paypal, credit card, invoice and direct debit.
      You should always offer these methods. And a couple more would be even better.

    Hey guys, thanks for the answers @alexk83 and @GAsmussen !! Thanks gunnar for listing the top 4 payment methods. What would you use for a 1 product business? shopify? or just ebay? ebay is the simplest because it gives you all payment options, i think amazons fees are too high for my product...notz sure. i also looked into bigcartel and weebly. i wanna have a simple shop, nothing fancy but still offer all 4 payment options!

    BTW, in what kind of content marketing/ecommerce are you active Gunnar? I am always eager to exchange with co-warriors. I am just starting and setting up my first niche site, besides the other projects and ideas I have.

    as a German, never used Moneybookers...

    invoice is huge...and a huge risk (there are payment providers covering this, I'd look into Rakuten)

    For one product? What about wordpress with shopping plugin?

    Depending where you are, be aware of strict German laws on shops...return option, Imprint etc
