What kind of traffic should I target for my dropshiping site?

I am mainly confused about taxes and where people live when buying from your site. Should I target only people in my state because of tax issues, or does that really matter?

Thanks in advance!

IMO, you pay taxes for the sales that are made in your state. And if you inventory is located in another state you might want to pay tax for all sales shipped to that state. This is what applies here in our country.. my guess is its how it is everywhere. If you dropshipped orders are coming from overseas, not sure how you are placed .. its better to consult a qualified CPA that might help you..

From my understanding, you pay the taxes for your state alone. I live in Georgia, so I pay 6%.

What if your supplier is in a different state?

This is my understanding as well. For example, I live in PA and starting in Sept. 2012 Amazon started charging my sales tax only because they now have warehouses in central PA. I was a little bit miffed.

Yeah as they said, you need to setup your system to capture taxes (at your state's rate) for anyone who's shipping address is within your state. That's it...for now.

Your supplier's location is irrelevant in the transaction between you and your customer. You should have a reseller's permit.
