Do you think it's possible to fix up one of the many auto pilot websites for sale on flippa. I've noticed they mostly are made a week before the site is up for sale? Using advertising and other marketing skills could you make an amazon affiliate website profitable?

There are so many factors involved in your question - the answer is yes and no. Anything can make money, most won't. But what you're asking isn't straight forward. What is the site, what is the niche, are people looking for the info / product you want to offer? Are you capable of ranking the site? Etc.

I sell some sites on Flippa (recently sold an Amazon affiliate site that actually ranks and makes money in fact) but I'll be the first to tell you that most of the sites are absolute crap and will never make anything unless they get a serious overhaul.

Shoot me a PM if you are interested in getting into some specifics or have more questions specific to your situation. I'm happy to answer. In fact I am about to build a new affiliate site so it may be a good chance to do a demonstration

I think your best bet would be to purchase an autopilot site that has already been up and running for at least a few months, receiving a steady flow of traffic, and is generating revenue. This way you know your investment will at least pay for itself in a few months.
